I have a 2001 Ranger 2.3 with manual shift. The engine is very very tired (I'll post an informational thread later as to why). I bought a 2001 2.3 out of a wrecked automatic truck. I'm trying to get everthing all set to slip it right in. I ordered out a new pilot bearing expecting to get something that would fit right into the big hole at the end of the crank. Instead I received a very small bearing. I have cross referenced it and it is the bearing listed for this engine. Since I haven't got this apart yet, can anybody tell me how is suposed to fit?

I believe once you get it apart you'll have your answer. The bearing you have is probably a little smaller than a quarter. It goes in the center of the flywheel. Can you post a pic of what your looking at?
