depending on how much they charge me at the "yard" it might be worth it just to run used ones if i can get that much out of them... i drive maybe 2 miles to work and back and 20 miles to where i wheel so i don't put many miles on my truck anyways

Yeah that's why I need the gears. I'm picking up a d30 tomorrow and it has 3.08's in it. Are 3.45 and 3.55 close enough in ratio to not break anything?

to tell you the truth i dont know much about gearing, since im only 15, so i would ask comeone else, but i know lots about other mechanical stuff

Eh it's cool. Most people just look and never reply. I'm sure I'll be fine I just wante another opinion

got my D30 yesterday only cost me $20!!! Rotor to rotor!!

ok so i'm really hoping someone with experience will read this and actually reply... i've got an 88 dana 30 axle and is set up for coils... i've done a lot of research and i've seen both setups... i like the leaf springs i think they look cleaner and less complicated. everything i've read people say go with coils and most of the people who run leafs say they wish they would've ran coils instead.

now my question is....... can i use my RBV coils? they are 4" lift coils. i know that they taper at the bottom and XJ coils don't. do i need to change the bottom spring mounts (any recommendations on how to do so) or can i cut the taper off (not recommended i would assume) or do i have to buy EB or XJ coils?

if i go coils i'm gonna do a long arm setup that mounts right before the trans cross member. Do i need to buy heim joints? if so what size is normal i looked and they have them 3/8 on up to 1"... i also noticed most of them have threaded shafts I would mount them solid so where can i find those?

If i go leafs i will do like a toyota and run a cross member under the frame rails and run front mount shackles. i've got this route almost all planned out but it will take more fab work sounds like

sheesh thanks for sticking that one out

well i know from what ive read here that stock ttb coils are to stiff, the lift coils you have may be fine, personally id try them and iff you dont like them swap them out, even if u just use them to get the axle in and drivable

yeah these ride really stiff now but thats not so much of what worries me.. i want to know if i can mount them to my D30 axle or not and if so what steps i need to take

by the looks of it, the stock coils would be too small on the bottom to go over the coil mount on the axle. i would do leafs personally.

Thank you kindly for your input. Since no one else has any ideas that's what I've been leaning towards myself

you can adjust the ride height almost easier with leafs as the only thing that matters really is length. from there, possibilities are endless. you don't need to know spring rates, loaded and unloaded heights, etc.

x2, if i do a sas(which i do plan to) i will be running leafs. not as complicated

Thanks guys, so far my plan is as follows: buy 63" chevy springs for the rear, put the worn out rear springs up front. Just need to find gears and steering linkage
