yodaman1151's 87 supercab STX

ill trade ya my 31's for your 33's, just so you can use em on it now

sorry dude, i got 31's if i want to run them but i don't see any point to spending the money on getting a third for the d35... basically swapped it cuz i had it and the ball joints on my d28 were GONE.

i figured out why my tires did this \----/ when i backed up... my alignment was WAYYYYYY off. i fixed it pretty good and it drives really striaght and i can back up now!

haven't updated for a while. still in 2wd mode for now but the pile of parts is growing, with special thanks to Dan at RuffStuffSpecialties.com!!

this is kinda off subject but i live a county over from morrow. and i go there alot with my buddies to go wheeling and ride quads. so if your going up there anytime soon let me know and ill meet you up there to do some wheeling! good luck with your build!

we only go out there opening week of archery season. I'll hit you up next year, its too far for me to drive unless i'm spending a week. and we usually just go riding, i can see me not driving my truck back if i go wheelin out there ha ha

Time for an update. Since I'm getting some money back this year from taxes I want to get my SAS done. Today I went to 3 different JY's and looked at almost 50 explorers trying to find an 8.8 with 4.10's... No luck. I plan on running 4 wheel disc brakes but I can do the swap at the JY if I find one with 4.10's. I need those gears to match my d30 and I'm not gonna pay to have the gears installed.

I did however find a one driveline out of an Explorer sport trac so I will do that along with my new axles. Only $35 a steal by anyones standards. Snagged a sweet push bar for the front too...

Hopefully I'll have some sas pics up in the next couple weeks PS if someone in the area has a 8.8 with 4.10's pm me please!!!!

man we had a couple here.. to bad its so far away. i was surprised how many 4.10 explorer's were in the local yard. i was just to lazy to pull them, i already had an axle.

the d30 swap is becoming very popular i see.. i'm planing one also. keep me a list of what ya got! lol.. i'm gonna need lots of help and have lots of questions.

all i can say for the moment is do the research and pick out what works best on everyone's swap and compile them into one... what i mean is do it right the first time instead of going through the headaches that could've been avoided if you would have read a little bit before hand. it's been almost a year since i started collecting parts and i'm dying to get this done ha ha

I will post a list and try to break down the cost once i get the swap done... and i run out of gas money to drive it around on the new axles ha ha ha ha

Dang dude, get this thing done haha, I get not having money, Im not gunna have money for the Ranger for about month or two

so i've been to all 5 of the u pull it yards in the greater portland area and vancouver and looked at almost 70 explorers and still can't find an 8.8 with 4.10's to save my life... its killing me cuz i got the money to finish my swap but i can't find the rear axle. i saw one about a month ago or so and didnt have the money at the time and it was gone when i actually could buy it.

If anyone in the area can track one down i'm looking at spending no more than $200 (go ahead tell me i'm crazy but they are $180 out of the yard)

got some metal the other day and got my link brackets cut out. gonna have a buddy drill the holes on a drill press and use the bandsaw to cut the crossmember piece at his work tomorrow.

once the holes are drilled i can cut the brackets in half and narrow them since they are 2 1/2" wide and the heims are only 2" wide. then ill clean them up on the bench grinder, then have it all welded together and put it in the truck

trying to do this swap in a few steps that way my truck won't be down too long. once i have the crossmember in i'll work on getting the trackbar mount set up that way the swap will only take a weekend to cut and weld the radius arms and trackbar.... well thats the plan anyways. as always plans change...

its got disc brakes, 4.10's and it came with the leafs.... bad news is that it doesn't have limited slip :/ I was kinda amazed it was open cuz i didn't notice the little table at the bottom of the tech article so i thought the only 4.10's made were limited slip. oh well its got 4.10's and i got the axle and leafs for $200 and scored another set of springs for my buddy

Awesome dude! That's a sweet deal. Too bad it's not LS... Cant win em all I guess. You can always change that down the road when funds allow. I'm just about to do the 8.8 swap as well. Having disc in the rear is gona be SWEEEET!

Great build! Keep it up man.
