yodaman1151's 87 supercab STX

Exactly what I was thinking. As Lon as the gears are correct and it has disc I'm doing alright. Plus the leafs alone wouldve been $80 at the junkyard. Smokin deal I think anyways

glad to see your going with coils. people see leafs and think they're easier but as far as i can see it isnt unless your trucks already set up for leaves. when your trucks already set up for coils and radius arms stock it makes the choice pretty simple

Leafs would be easier well at least simpler. But the axle is already setup for coils, which they are almost exactly same position as the ttb too. This is my first real fab project and it sucks I don't have a welder to learn to do it ALL by myself but I'm pretty proud of it all so far.

Oh did I mention I found my rear axle!!!!! I'm so stoked!!!!

so i got my brackets back. one of the holes is kinda off which is gonna take some massaging to make the bracket work... not to mention i measured once and cut once on it cuz i was so excited but it will look and function properly once i get done. during my lunch break today i'm going to my buddy's house so he can tack them up and then take them to work and weld them all together for me...

Here's some progress pics:

Got the cross member cut the way I want it and sent it off with ^jake^ to have him weld the brackets to it. Next is to cut the rivets holding the stock cross member on and bolt my angle pieces up so I can tack the new crossmember to it. Then it's on the the track bar mount which will be easy since I've decided to just run the stock xj one to get it going then I'll upgrade that and the steering later. Planning out something similar to the Stonecrusher steering setup

Nice progress on the STX... I wish I could find a deal like that down here in Gawja!

I wish it was done but at least I'm making progress. My bearings are so shot right now on the d28 it's become a swap out of necessity just so I don't sink more money into it

Finally got my shock tabs for the rear from ballistic today. Only took 10 days to get 4 CNC cut tabs. I would've made them myself but they were on sale for $.99 a pair. Shipping was like $6.50 so it wouldve been cheaper too... One less thing I have to make though

Project got set back a bit cuz I bought a black diamond plate toolbox last night...

Got the crossmember back with the link brackets welded on. Sexy welds done by my friend Jake (That_One_Guy). it was outside for a day and rusted so I got a lot of clean up then I'll paint it

I'm truly going nuts, I need to make some more cash and find a sunny couple days (good luck in the northwest) to finish this thing... Here's my to do list:

-cut off factory tranny crossmember brackets and finish welding the new crossmember
-build my trackbar mount and put it on
-get more gear oil
-put front end in
-put rearend in
-put 1 piece driveshaft in
-put brake lines on rear axle once perches are welded on
-shorten front drive shaft (if need be)

Later after install:
- front swaybar mount
- hiem joint trackbar
- cross over steering

After that....
- trim fenders
- BIGGER TIRES!!!
