yodaman1151's 87 supercab STX

Well got the new tranny in and she drives smooth and has a little more power now. Also the tranny doesn't make it sound like it has a supercharger on it anymore... I was so sick of that whining especially when I had to drive from 2nd gear to fourth

so i decided to paint the tranny, why? not really sure i just thought it would look cool... which it does but damn it was a pain to clean that sucker.

she drives quiet and smooth and has all the gears now :headbang:

also got around to put my tach in after i failed to get the factory one ressurected... its an autogage by auto meter it was on the floor when i got the truck and judging from the hole in the dash pad i believe it was installed at one point but i did tap into the tach wire right behind the cluster so the wiring was good to there so i can't figure out why the stock one is broken.

seems like i'm talking to myself in here, not a lot of feedback

nice truck. i like the tranny paint. i would have suggested u look for a mazda m50 while it was out wut o well. theres lots around here...

I knabbed this FM145 with a fresh rebuild. Besides I didn't want to wait around to find the tranny and new drivelines

might the reason for your stock tach being broken possibly have been in the gauge itself? or what about in the connections to the stock tach itself? You tapping into the tach wiring and it working rules out any possibilities anywhere else other then in the gauge cluster housing, so thats something that popped into my mind.

My thoughts exactly and the way I found out the wiring was fine was by hooking the new tach to the plug before cutting any wires. I cleaned all the contacts on the cluster, which fixed my gas gauge, and still no life out of it so I figure she is dead. Besides that autometer gauge fits so perfectly right there on the dash :D

I heard there's some good rock crawls in eastern Oregon we go to morrow county ohv park each year to ride quads for a week it's pretty fun... Haven't taken the truck to browns yet but went riding there yesterday and there ain't much in the way of quad trails compared to morrow county.

Took the ranger up in the snow the other night got to test out the sliders and they work great. These thornbirds are like racing slicks in the snow though... It's like the sand you gotta hammer down and get'em turnin to get traction. Toyota I was wheelin with sheared his studs holding on the hysteer so we had to go to town to pick up a knuckle and go back up to swap it out... I got home at 5am...

yea we go there and ride quads up there also its a pretty cool place to go
