It's more like a flat plate. Your seems burlier.

Still...maybe line stake it too....

I told young Bob we might tie them into the ceiling yet.

@Rick W
The last pic is of the end of the bolt after it passes thru the wall of the lift. It was tough tapping. I was worried I might break a tap.
@bobbywalter The wall of the lift is almost 1/2". It is well built. It's also an antique, iirc the company shut doors in the late 70's.

yes....it is burly unit you have there..

and your spreader is better than the one the l9 came with...

I decided to double up on the horizontal beam.

Kind of an L shape with C channel. I drilled holes every 2' on the bottom C channel then used self tappers into the top. Should stiffen it up a lot. Will test tomorrow.

awesome....definitely helps the old guys.

It's about time.
I say since you took so long to get this far you should donate the pinto to ME, ME, ME, ME, ME.

Now seriously I think it's great. Especially doing it on your spare time. And not having a million dollars to be able to put into it.

Its been awhile... Nothing has fallen... Yet... Lol. Yesterday I put my 2011 Escape on the lift to change out the wheel bearing. Ended up having to cut the nut off the tie rod end, but any threads damaged are on the exposed part of the shank after the nut is tightened up. Searched high and low for a nut but nothing turned up in my piles of... stuff. Ended up at Ford and paid $10.47 for one nut! Ah well, Total cost for the job was about $50.00 as I only needed to do one side. I did the other last year. Much easier this time with the lift. Also found the reason for the loud exhaust... The tailpipe over the axle had rotted off behind the muffler. Sorry, no pics. I did get a pic of the finished job. I didn't go over the axle, just welded on a downturn.

I'm feeling very comfortable under the cars. There has been absolutely no sign of unwanted movement of the lift since I put the top bar in place. I would have used the jackstands but I couldn't get the escape high enough. Back onto the Pinto next.
