Saw this on another forum an decided to bring it over here, since it's been almost 7 years since the events of 9/11 shook the world to the core. I remember it like yesterday...
So where were you??
Where was I? I was at work when it all started... pouring concrete. I left the job around 9:30 to go to my college class and immediately upon firing up the truck, I fed a CD into the player and remained blissfully ignorant of what was going on. Got to campus, locked the truck, and on the walk in to class noted the tension and hushed tones but still didn't know what was going on. It was only after I got in the classroom that I started to learn what was going on.
The teacher came in, said that her mom was in that area of New York and that she was unable to reach her so class was cancelled because she didn't think she could handle teaching the class an told us that we could go out in the foyer and watch on the tv there. I decided there was too much of a crowd and drifted outside for a bit to await my next class. When I decided to head back in to see if there was any new news, I saw a flood of students and teachers rushing towards the doors. As someone ran past they screamed that another plane was headed this way, and everything was cancelled.
So I called the boss to see what he was doing and was appalled when he said that he was working. I tried explaining what I knew of what happened and he kinda blew it off and said that I might as well get back to work. When I made it back to the jobsite he apologized, he didn't really believe all of what I had told him until the carpenters working on the job turned on a radio (which was after my call an before I made it to the job).
