Where were you?? (when the world stopped turning)

i was in the 10th grade in ag. one of my ag teachers and i got in the truck to go castrate some pigs and we heard the news of the first plane. i asked him "this is kind of a big deal, isnt it?", at the same time he was yelling "holly shit"!

although theres alot i can t remeber, i can remember that day like it was today.

I was on vacation in south carolina..this woman came rushing out of her room like all excited about it like it was something cool, dumb !@#$%, she was really creepy too though so yea..the whole ordeal is very sad though. The people who had to deal with it and those related to them probably will never be the same because of it. Its sad, really.

i was in 7th grade art class. had the radio on and then the news break came on. had an assembly in the gym about an hour after and then we went home. everyones homework was to watch the news....thats it, no more no less. ill never forget it. the next year in 8th grade there was a trip to DC that you could go on(had to pay if you wanted to) for a week. we were scheduled for the previous october but it was posponed till april. while we were down there we drove by the pentagon and they were still doing construction on it. from then on every september 11th and columbine anniversary i havent gone to school.

I was in 12th grade in Air force ROTC when it happend we satched the tv all day and went home and watched some more

I remember I was in 5th grade and was home sick that day (with what I don't really remember). My mom was home with me and I was watching the news becuase that was what she was watching (only TV) and there was a reporter doing a live report, with the Towers in the back ground, and then the first plane hit. So, I guess I saw it live as it was happen, not nessecarily a recording later on.

I didn't even know what the twin towers were at that age (I was around 9-10) so it didn't really hit me that hard back then.

I was at work and wandered into the break room just in time to see the second plane hit. I had several international employees on planes headed for the USA that were diverted to other countries. We had no idea where! But they had company credit cards and by watching the charges I could figure out at least generally where each of them were. Gradually they found the Internet was working fine and began to check in with e-mail and we could work out strategies for getting each of them home.

i was in a semi driving down illinois 41 and listening to it on the radio. i figured it was another prank they were pulling that was in really bad taste as the week before they had a guy dressed as a terrorist and shouting things about jhad in a resedential neighborhood. then the second plane hit . i called home and had the wife start taping the news. about a week later i got a certified letter from the marine corps saying that i might have to go back.

6th grade english. We had thin walls and I heard through the wall that on of the towers had been hit. So I raised my hand and told the teacher, and asked if we could turn the news on real quick. I kept a small radio in my jacket pocket (english and history are easy classes) so even after they made us turn off the news I would listen in peridicly to hear the latest updates.

I also remember the teachers all being really nervouse because of our middel schools close proximity to the military supply center (the msc is located right outside of port columbus air port, and the school is only a mile from there.)

I'm from western Canada. And even that far removed I remember. I had worked all night, slept all day. Got up, poured some cereal. Turned on the T.V.. News was on. Just stared for 2 hours. Never ate the cereal.

I lived on McGuire AirForce base at the time in 9th grade, i was in german class when a announcement came on over the intercom that noone was to turn on the television's that were in every classroom.......well needless to say we ALL turned on the tv's, the base was on 100% lockdown, Ft. Dix was scheduled for reactivation, it took eac bus approximatly 30 mins to be searched from top to bottom and every student. we did not have school for days following as the busses were not allowed on base.........you could smell the smoke in the air from the fires......and im a good hour from nyc....

I can't believe how young everyone on this site is...wow

I was in chicago. Had a friend that was supposed to be at window to the world, but decided against it

this will be my 3rd Sept 11th working directly next to the site

That's funny... As I browsed this topic a few times, I thought the same thing. Most people appear to have been in grade school or high school at the time, me being one of them.

that is fricken crazy because that is exactly what i was doing, i was home sick in the 5th grade watching the news of the lady reporter when the first plane hit. I was fixing to put a movie and saw the first plane hit, then mom came in bawling and then the second plane hit and everyone was freaking out then the towers colapsed and everything got worse. Then the news of the Pentagon came and mom nearly passed (here step-bro works their in the wing that was hit). Mom descided to send me to school even though i was sick so i wouldn't see her freakin out. After a long day of school and barfing on and off i got home and found out my uncle wasn't at the pentagon that day he was instead headed to the World trade center and was crossing a bridge in new york where he saw in person the planes fly into the 1st tower.

but i t was basically the same thing as Dog boy

I was at work moving my stuff from my pickup to my semi getting ready to go out for the week. I caught bits and peices in both vehicles as I was moving the stuff. At first I thought it was a drunk asshole flying a private plane until I saw the second one hit on a TV in the breakroom- then I knew we were in deep doo-doo.

It was my birthday that day too which means it is my B-day again tomorrow. Not many people forget my birthday anymore...

Please remember this day when you go to the polls in November. We don't need a raghead running the country...
