Where were you?? (when the world stopped turning)

A coworker and i were changing a compressor in a rooftop, listening to a dewalt jobsite radio when his wife called. We switched over to the news just in time for the second plane hit,he looked at me and I remember saying this is no accident.

tried to call the office but no cell phone service, went inside to use the land line and we were told to get out of atlanta and be with our families as soon as we were done.Fastest compressor change I have done in awhile.

What I remember most was my coworker, also ex navy asking who the hell is bin laden and how nice people were to each other out there on the highway. The courtesy for other drivers lasted several days.It was strange to be able to look up and not see a airliner,I live in landing pattern for Hartsfield.

I was in 8th grade, don't remember what class though. As soon as word was out, most classes had tv's on. I can't remember if it was before or after the second plane had hit. Some teachers decided not to put on the tv after a while and we had to continue class. Needless to say most people were pissed. Nobody was the same, and nobody could focus on school work.

And bin laden...I have a .50 BMG with your name on it. If a bunker buster doesn't find ya first.:icon_thumby:

I was on the firing range doing some tactical shooting. Little did I know some day I would be remarried to a woman who's uncle was there through it all as a police captain. He was initially listed among the dead.

It's a very interesting story to hear from someone who was there at the scene helping.

What people don't hear much about is all the people that are dying from health problems associated with all the dust and debris.

My wifes uncle is still on the job. When he dies it has already been determined that it will be ruled a homicide do to the complications resulting from the exposure.

One of the worse parts for him is the media interviewing him EVERY damn year to ask him how he feels about the whole thing.

The most memorable events I clearly remember are:

The day Elvis died - I was sitting on the living room floor.
The day President Reagan was shot - I was in Jr. High School.
The first space shuttle explosion - At my girlfriends (I also remember the space capsules splashing down in the ocean in the earlier space programs)
911 - On duty at the firing range

Sorry to wander off topic.......

7th grade, woke up around 6:30 watching the news and seeing the buidlings on fire, after the first tower fell I got my mom up we watched the other fall... Still very vivid in my mine.

I was at work. I saw someone was putting a t.v. in the cafeteria and I had no idea why, but when it was turned on, then I knew why.

I was in Advanced Individual Training at The US Army Aviation Logistics School in FT Eustis,VA. We were on break when an instructor came in and told us that a plane had hit the towers, so we turned the TV on just in time to see the second plane hit. Shortly there after another instructor came in and told us we were at FPCON Delta and training was cancelled. Certainly a day I will never forget.

I was 15 years old and in 9th grade. I was in my second period earth science class. The history teacher came in and whispered something to my teacher, then she wispered something back, that was the first plane hitting. The second plane hit the same history teacher came sliding into the room and said if we had any family in the NYC area to call and see if they were alright. then he went screaming that same line down the hallway. The school ended classes early and up until that time many people sat or stood near any available TV in the building watching the situation unfold. I didn't know what to think of that. I didn't know what would happen. The country changed that day i noticed that.

I was in 6 grade english class. Thats about all I remember. I have been hit in the head a lot.

i was in second period senior year and thought it was a joke!!

i was visiting family in summerset,pa and heard this loud noise just as flite 93 went over the house just about 100 feet over the trees. then the explosion
spent the rest of the day helping my uncle with fire police duties.

i was in art class. I remember watching tv with my bud for the rest of the day in my basement. It was unbeleivable

I was working on top of a mountain, we had to fly in and out by chopper, could not go home as all air traffic was shut down, spent the night on the mountain did not know what had happened untill the next day.

I was in 7th grade reading class. Another teacher walked in and whispered something to her. After the teacher left she told us to get our stuff and that we were going home early. When I got home and I saw my mom was watching the news and I quickly knew why we went home early.

At home getting ready to go to work. Everybody thought the first one was an accident until the 2nd plane hit, then everyone got kinda scared. They couldn't figure out if were were under some kind of attack or not.:)shady

Was in my Junior year of high school. It happened while I was in class, didn't know about it until I went to lunch 10:30.
