So while gathering parts I realized I haven't decided on what type of shock I want to run. So my question is can I run either air shocks or coilovers without having to link it. It seems Alittle above my skill level. I looked around a little and seems that's how most people are doing it. Is there a way to maybe run a rad. Arm setup or long arms? Also if dding it would i not want to go this route?Help is much appreciated. Thanks

Have you tried googling "coilover suspension setups"? If that doesnt give you anything, click on "images" on google and see what that gives you.

I did but I didn't really get anywhere because all I got was 3-4 link setups. Didnt check the images part so ill try that.Checked the tech library and got the same just more confused. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough? Haha

Yea you can run coilovers on stock suspension. Coilovers and leafs you would have two sets of springs.

Air shocks are the same as coilovers except nitrogen pressure acts as a spring instead a actual metal spring.
I guess your talking about the true air shocks and not the cheapy load helper shocks..??..

If you're building some kind of IFS, yes.

SAS, simple answer is no. Radius arms are links, and even then you are going to need a track bar. Links/Radius arms(leaf springs too) locate the axle, while springs(coil, coilover, transverse leaf) and shocks control the axles movement.

You're TTB is setup with Radius arms now. No issues pulling DD duty now? It won't be much different with a solid axle and radius arms.

I was referring to when I sas. And yes a true air shocks.

It's alright for now but im getting ready to sas and the only thing I haven't set in stone is shocks.so I would need to fab up a set of radius arms and a track bar to run them?

No.
You need a 3 link, 4 link, or a stock raduis arm/track bar set up to need coil/coil over/air shock type of suspension set up.

Or run leafs and regular shocks.

When mine was 1/2ton i ran modified stock rad arm set up on 14" king air shocks.
Make any sense ?

Kinda sorta not really haha. The only reason I have thought about running these is that I want a smooth ride but still enough to where I can dd it. And I've heard that leafs up front ride ridiculously rough.
Check out Kyle M's build. He used a radius arm set up with air shocks.

I'll have to check it out.

Come drive mine, you're only 40 miles north of me. Leaves aren't that bad. You're not going to get a Cadillac smooth ride with them, but they are not ridiculously rough. They ride like....well, a truck, so long as you don't have too stiff or too soft of springs.

Leaf sprung SAS are stupid easy too. Like I said come drive mine and check my shit out in person before you completely rule out leaves.

I'll come up there and check it out one of these days when I have time off from work. I have a question, are there any companies that sell leaves that don't push the axle forward?

Yes.

You can mount your axle whereever you damn well please. I know some people are using Explorer rear leaves for the front. Do some measuring.

I'll have to do that. So I'm guessing that it's not the springs themselves that push the axle it's wherever they are mounted? Iirc there was someone on here that used yota springs and it moved the axles a little bit.
