- My credo
- Had about 15 Rangers in my lifetime and every damn one of them ended up in the junkyard.
I bought this truck a couple years ago and shortly after I got it home it would barely run. Took it to multiple mechanics in the area and none of them could fix it. Figured I'd try replacing the fuel injectors because for some strange reason none of the mechanics tried it or even suggested it as a potential cause. Well, that's what it was. It ran fine for the past year with no problems whatsoever and the other day it just quit for some reason. No fuel injector problems this time. Like somebody flipped a switch. The guy I bought it from had replaced one of the Heads but I still checked both sides for compression. He wasn't lying. the one he said he replaced had perfect compression, but the other original side had 90's and low 100's reading. Bought a new Head and replaced. It didn't make a bit of difference. Still won't run. Have no idea now. Another Ranger headed to the junkyard as always. All the electrical seems good. Good spark, plugs and wires good. Fuel pump fine. It's had multiple warning lights on since I bought it. I've never owned a Ranger, and I've had about 15 the past 35 years, that didn't always have the Check Engine Light On Full-Time at the very least. The computer systems are horrible every single time on every one I've owned since they started putting them in. No way to outsmart it and it's dumb as it can be. Any suggestions besides replacing the entire motor would be greatly appreciated.
