what's every body run for on board air?

Yes. The 4. 0l pumps suck.

You have a bottle of hot sauce?

so, if you are "stuck" having to use a "rotary" compressor, then, you should be looking for the one off of the early RBV's with "V-belts" correct? 2.8, 2.9 V6 for starters?

yes.

those are the 6 cylinder models....well 3 cylinders, the pistons are center mounted on a swashplate but either end of the body is the head so its 6 cylinders effectively.

the shoes and pivots on those are much more tolerant to low oil conditions then the later r134 pumps.

they are on basically everything to 89 or so when the newer style started to phase in.

the best models are "dealer installed air" because the manifolds are easy to drill and tap so you can plumb them with intake oilers ect.

if you port them they flow much better and cooler too.

So, how can you tell if it is a "dealer" install? 2 piece hose "fitting" on the back of the compressor? The setup that I have is off of a late 89 model 2.9.

I've read about packing the rotary compressors with grease to get around using the inline oiler, might be worth a try with the later 10 cylinder compressor. Apparently you disassemble it and pack it around the swashplate and in any oil lubricated bearings. Then you reassemble and install a grease fitting in the side
