Unloaded the new-to-me tires and wheels I picked up for the Jeep. Got a smokin deal on these but had to drive 2.5 hours to pick them up. The old girl made the trip without complaint.

I'm curious if these dudes are gonna give me a refund. I fucked up, but they fucked up first haha.Wait till you get the wrong part in the right box. The parts store often tries to say you swapped it...![]()
Finished fitting and welding in the other rocker panel in my replacement cab then started carving the passenger floor pan out to get it ready for replacement. I found that, much like the driver side, it's going to take some extra patches beyond the replacement pan, I'll continue messing with that tomorrow.View attachment 134862
Well, there you go! Find a gal who can weld who also has a garage!
I drove it. Mashed the pedal to the floor on a straight stretch. The V8 AWD definitely has more power than the 4.0L OHV, but something about the combo is right. Hits 105 on the 1 mile drag strip from a rolling start, but stops pulling hard around 90. Also no matter what I do at 90 it shifts into OD. Something in the system overrides the OD off button.
Something about the combo isn't right, not sure if it's the transmission/torque converter, AWD t-case, or the gear/tire.combo. The tuner also said that there was nothing that they could change to affect the overdrive turning itself on.
BEst I can tell the rockers on the 85 are good, but the DS floor pan sounds about the same. Definitely going to need the standard pan replacement, but it feels like the rot runs down the door seam beside the seat. The front of the ds seat rail feels like it's floating. Also think there is some up the transmission tunnel that is t covered by a replacement pan.
That's the only real rust on the whole thing. Hoping that if I get around to fixing, I might be able to salvage patches from the totaled 84. It was hit in the passenger side back of the cab, so I'm hoping that the DS pan and tunnel is good.
Him and me both. Problem is finding them. Those types tend to hang out in said garage instead of places where you can meet them. Goes for us guys too. When the girls ask where all the good guys are, we're in the garage, yard, or woods, not the bars you're searching in.
