I second the Aussie as it only affects driving characteristics when in 4wd. A welded d35 is going to suck in a dd. You would end up with premature tire wear along with other issues.

A welded diff would only affect driving characteristics and tire ware in 4wd also. Noting in the front diff is turning with the hubs unlocked so it will not make one difference wether or not it is welded or open.

That is of course if you have manual hubs and if you dont you should.

I welded the front diff up on my Explorer and its my dd. No side effects what so ever with the hubs unlocked.

for sure. a welded daily driven 28 spline 7.5 will fail the shafts in a most shitty way that will leave you with a potential mess....they tend to bust the shafts in a pencil manner making them a bitch to get out and leave a shit ton of shards to clean up and try to remove.

the time and frequency of failure of course is dependent on some other factors.

power and tire size. conservative and heavy footed driving styles.

for the front d35....you dont swap ring gears to go from soilid to streetable setups....thats not a good way to go. with a decent lift kit you simply have two different piglets setup and ready to go. r&r of my piglet was doable in under 2 hrs going easy but steady.

then again if you live where you dont need 4x4 to get to work often during the winter spooled front is just fine. just have a pile of parts if you like to wheel it.

I was wondering about this too. Sounds like im gunna throw in a spool. Thanks
