Hi, my name is Artem, in 02. 2025 I was bought Ford Ranger. Roll out from plant in 1989 and in 1996 was imported in little country of Europe - Latvia. After long time I get it to my hands. Moving by 2.9 engine with conventional petrol and LPG, paired to automatic tranny with RWD. It was many troubles, but drive.

How i understood, 2.9 engine not so similar with Scorpio 2.9 engine. Intake manifold different, sensors connectors different and probably other parameters too. Al parts I buy on Rockauto, considering location, delivery cost can be astronomical

The 2.9 used in Ford vehicles is part of the Cologne family of engines. I believe Cosworth used them well. Unfortunately, the guy who could give you the most history and information doesn't log on to the forum anymore.

The 2.9 used in Ford vehicles is part of the Cologne family of engines. I believe Cosworth used them well. Unfortunately, the guy who could give you the most history and information doesn't log on to the forum anymore.

I know im not that guy but i believe the biggest differences was just the intake. Possibly just the upper intake. Other stuff interchanges.

The cosworth version was DOHC but had the same block/rotating assembly

I now search info here about injectors, because have problem with engine work on petrol, looks like one or two injectors doesn't work. Wiring or injectors are in failure, doesn't solve the problem yet. And found that one in 2011 asking about 2.9 Cosworth swap. But yeah, looks like he's left chat

Conventional is gasoline. It's language tricks, on american english petrol is gas/gasoline but on international it's petrol, on car installed LPG, liquid propane gas. so there can be little misunderstanding in future, when would writing about fuel systems
