Ugh, PATS system has us stuck. Details inside. Advice appreciated.

Hi,
* 1999 Mazda B3000 (Ford Ranger), 3.0 V6.
* We're the tenth owner, 220k miles! Bought for $2k this summer.
* It came with a broken ignition cylinder (theft attempt), two keys that worked (in the broken cylinder), no key fob, and a drivers door that does not lock/unlock via the key.
* We worked around that for about 5 months, but just had some work done, and a battery that completely discharged. Popped in the new batter and voila - it won't start.
* Doesn't crank, THEFT light flashes fast. Tried a number of things the mechanic suggested but we seem stuck.

Any advice to get it out of "I'm being stolen!" mode? Again, the drivers door lock problem and lack of key fob really are screwing us right now.

Thanks in advance. I love this truck, but HATE the PATS system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 24 hours from having it towed to the mechanic and throwing money at it.

Drivers door lock has no electrical connection so that has little to do with the anti-theft. You need two good keys and a good ignition cylinder. Then you need a locksmith, dealer, or a laptop with a cable and a copy of Forscan with an extended license.

also, forscan has a trial that gives you all the features for like 30 days... I just added 2 keys to my mom's '07 (came with one key and one duplicate key - same chip).

vgate vlinker is a perfectly fine cable for this project and right now (around the holidays) amazon is pretty close to aliexpress, but aliexpress usually is a fair bit cheaper (and slower).

might also double check the ground strap for the relay box.... not exactly the same symptoms, but if seattle is as rainy as advertised I would think this would be a prime candidate:
