Ugh- heater core

Anyone know what all is involved in replacing the heater core? It looks like it is going to be a royal pain in the ass.

Everything from the seats to the firewall must be removed.

It's really not hard, just time consuming.

how long did it take you?

Me... 4 hours, with cleaning everything while it was apart. I'm a "professional" tech, and have done 20+ of these. I can usually get em done in 3 hours.

I think book time is 6-6.5 hrs, + coolant refill and a/c recharge.

It is possible to do it without discharging the a/c, that, my 18v Milwaukee 1/4" impact, and a set of 1/4" wobble sockets save a whole bunch of time.

This is one of the reasons why I try to keep my 94 around as long as I can.. Did heater core earlier this year 25 min.

So I got all the bolts out/steering column/airbag/etc out in under 2 hours. I can't for the life of me get the dash to come apart from the firewall. Spent 2 hours trying to get the dash off the firewall and made zero progress. I'm about to put it back together, I've got 3 hours till it gets dark. This ****in sucks.

plenum chamber?

I removed the 4 bolts (or was it nuts?) that hold the airbox/blower/evaporator assembly to the firewall.
