Twister 85 B2 Build

I would check it's estimated cfm rating. Also what size engine was it cooling?

Back firing tells me your ignition is late. I do hope that your camshaft isn't it of timing but then again a valve more it less would have hit a piston if they don't have valve relief la in them. I'm not sure if 302s are interference engines or not.

I just did a little searching and they appear to be non interference. Searching to see if I put the chain and gears on wrong, it seems like you only could if you rotated the crank or camshaft as both are keyed. The fan was from I think a 3.2L dohc v6. Its being used in addition to my flex fan. I couldn't find its cfm rating anywhere.

Running a 4.0 rad you are going to need all the help you can get with cooling. Best thing, hook up a temp gauge and run it. If it wants to over heat just idling then time to do an upgrade.

Might try pulling the dist, putting the block on tdc and make sure it's the compression stroke. Put the dist back in with the rotor facing the correct post on the cap. Mine was a pita too. Having it off one tooth will throw the spark off enough that it won't run.

FML, that's not suppose to happen.

What exactly happened, other then the oil pump rod is out of the engine?

That lol, never had that happen and was not expecting it.

Usually it goes to far down and won't allow the dizzy to be able to turn the oil pump.

What to do now I'm not exactly sure. If the top holder thing is there that keeps it from gong into the pan then you are good (if not no biggy get one). It's trail and error to set the depth of the rod but once in, you are good.

Waste of damn time. Still didn't start, got the dizzy in near where it suppose to go according to the cap, maybe a little to the driver side. Got it put all back together. Tried both firing orders, using the spot on the cap labeled one and the one to the right of it. Still all I get is backfiring :(

Take the cap off and see if the rotor is turning.

Double check your firing order and make sure it's set counter clock wise. If that doesn't work the the only thing I can figure it could be is your timing chain is off by a tooth.

Hard to be off a tooth since the sprockets are keyed and marked.
