Twister 85 B2 Build

Is your firing order going the correct direction on the dizzy cap? I did that twice lol. iirc it's supposed to be counter clock wise.

I think mine started but I had to get funky with having the dizzy a tooth off and the plug wires rotated one click off to get it timed right. The Explorer power steering bracket really limits the travel of the DS dizzy.

Like I said it has been a year and a half ago but I am fairly sure mine did start with the dizzy timed the normal way on TDC1.

Got a picture off yours that he can go off of?

Tested for spark using the number 5 plug wire and plug, as far as i could see it was intermittent. It got it to spark one than nothing. Putting it back into non H.O. firing order with the number 1 plug wire placed where the rotor pointed on TDC, and the spark plug out it seemed like it wanted to fire more than it did before :dunno:. I have good connection with all my electrical wires and got spark from the coil a week ago. I am going to buy new wires, plugs, cap and rotor when i get my paycheck and see if that helps.

Oh lastly, i switched dspark boxes as well, i had another one that was tested good so i threw that on for shits n grins.

Can you ask your buddy that you got the engine from and ask if it's HO or not?

I tried, but hes in nurse training (army) down in Texas right not and i cant get a hold of him.

Here is a pic of the engine i dont think i have posted on here and from the looks it looks like it might use the H.O. firing order. This is the engine straight from his mustang and on a stand. The only plug wire that looks like it was unplugged was the coil wire.

After some tracking of two of the wires that I can see going to their spark plugs and where they are at on the dizzy, it is a HO firing engine. The towers I'm looking at are plugs 6 and 5 and they are in that order on the dizzy cap since HO fires 13726548.

Me and my brother came to the same conclusion. Swapped it to that order like in the picture and got nothing. Gonna replace the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and see if that helps, dont know what else it could be.

Unless all 8 plugs and/or all 8 plug wires went bad it should at least be trying to start.

You might pick on the coil wire as that would effect all 8, the cap and rotor could cause it too (but IMO unlikely since it was running when pulled)

Replaced the cap, rotor and plug wires. I get fantastic spark from the coil, but I get none from the dizzy. Wtf

Is the coil plug tower touching the rotor to be ache to poss the spark on to the wire towers and so on?

And you have good power to the dizzy's plug in connector?

Got 11 volts at the coil with key on, have 11 volts at the end of the purple wire at the end of the duraspark harness. The second I plug it in to the dizzy, the voltage drops to 1.7 volts on the dizzy side on the purple wire.

Well I made a wee bit of progress. I can get the engine to backfire, not the best thing but means I got spark, fuel and enough compression. Gotta figure out the timing.

Also snagged a stock pusher efan from an Isuzu rodeo we just junked. Its about 11" diameter. Hooked up to a plug in voltage converter it moved a decent amount of air.
