Good deal, what is left to go before it goes in?

All i can think of right now is:

Clutch parts (slave, master and line)
Gotta get a massively corroded water pump bolt out of the block.
need water pump bolts
put timing cover back on
Fluids
Possibly different block oil relocation thing

How did you guys get the passenger side motor mount off? The nut is in a place only a contortionist would be able to get to.

Jack up the frame so the axle beam drops more out of the way. IIRC wobble extension, long normal extension and a lot of patience.

It is a PITA. :icon_thumby:

A SAS with a 5 inch lift.

When i had to take the 2.3 mount off for when i was putting my 2.8 in i didn't jack up the truck but did use everything else said.

What clutch line should i use, the one from the F150 or one from a ranger? I would think the one from the F150 might be a bit too long but i am not sure. If i was to use one from a ranger, what year would i want one from to be compatible with the clutch slave on the newer transmission (2002)?

Also, all i need to do before i can set the engine in the truck is get a horribly corroded water pump bolt out, i think i post a pic of it before but here is another look.

The bolt, either get those things that you put in the bolt by drilling out the center and tapping them in then rotating them till the bolt (if your lucky) comes out or drill the bolt out and tap the hole.

Wonder what other guys have done (other forums, google, etc...) have done.

As for the transmission/clutch thing, that was the thing I was thinking of with the lines and was glad I went with what I have now since it was literally a plug and play. My ranger line was making contact with my header but caught that in time and that was having it break twice on the fitting that hooks to the clutch slave on the trans that shortened it about 3 inches total. The f150 may be to long and my line I have doesnt bend easliy, stock ranger one that is.

Also how new are the timing chain/sprockets/ May not be a bad time to throw on a new set of those while you are there. Got mine from autozone for a decent price. I was told not to use summit ones since they have alot of slack in them out of the box but they also cost more too.

Finally got the old engine and granny out of my garage and into my brothers junk e150.

The timing chain is quite sloppy so a new one will be going on.

Well the machine shop can't take my engine right now, they have to many they say. So for the time being, I am gonna bring home my engine tomorrow, hook the granny to it and set it in the truck and maybe get the holes for the motor mounts drilled and slotted.

If the e150 doesnt need its driveshaft, you may want to look into using it for your 302 swap, may save you a bit of money.

As for the slots for the motor mounts, I had the engine/trans bolted together then set them in the frame rails and where the bolts for the mounts lined up on the crossmember thats where I made my slots (via angle grinder). Pics are in my build thread of it all starting on page 66 for those on the website and not Tapatalk.

Also as for the clutch line hook up, any luck? If you do get it all figured out be sure to tell the part numbers and parts of how you got it all to work.

What kind of exhaust manifolds/headers you going to be running? There are a set of factory explorer headers for free in the for sale section, just pay shipping. They say they are restrictive but have been working for me and for free, you cant beat that.

Free gets it under the hood and going faster then after that, upgrade stuff as needed (like what I plan on doing).

I plan on upgrading to the exploder cast ones one day for a bit of better flow (along with the help of porting them out a bit) but also so I dont have to rework the exhaust hookups either.

IMO 200hp is good enough maybe a bit more but anymore then that, Im asking to get into trouble somehow.

Got my engine home, and got the oil pan and timing cover put back on for mock. Went to put the motor mounts on and the bolts that held the one on from the mustang are clearly not the correct one. They are quite long and had at least 8 washed stacked on them to take up room. The guy before my friend must not of liked to use the proper bolts :annoyed:

But with the oil pan off i got to look at the bottom end of the engine
