turnbuckle radious arms?

I am making extended radius arms for my truck, and doing an sas,and i was thinking turnbuckles would make it nice for ajustability. even a small one is rated at 2000+ pounds of strength, so it seems like a really good idea, but then i realized that rating is probably for tension, which is the opisite of what it would be in a radius arm suspension link. does this sound like a super hillbilly idea to you guys or does it sound strong? im not so sure anymore, but i know we got some good critics on here so let me know what you think?

I don't think that you're going to be able to find a big enough turn buckle to handle the stress involved in suspension systems. You're looking at alot of tension, compression, torsion, and bending forces. If you're making up radius arms, put a johnny joint or heim at the frame side and the threaded shank will be more than enough adjustment for what should be needed. Look into joints that are 1 1/8-1 1/4" shank, with a 1" through bolt...they're what come with the Cage radius arms

Use Flex joints with opposite thread direction.

I used a threaded insert and flex joint on each tube at the frame end, then the upper link (top link of the y-link radius arm) that has opposite thread on eithr end. The threaded main links allow for axle alignment front to back, while the threaded top link allows for easy caster adjustment.

I'm using the same style thread inserts on both the track bar (side-to-side axle alignment) and tie rod (toe adjustment).

Why buy it when u can build it... man i say go for and build then i would use johnny joints and build then cause then u know what they will handle

why wouldn't you want to build them i mean if your doing build them anyone can buy parts that a computer made and but them in a truck, but it take a person to build them so i say if your going to mod your truck build what you can, it give you the experence in makin them...and well its just more fun

ide go for the build.... if they dont work then u can always do it again... ide rather have something i built myself then something someone else from god knows where built

yeah I'm definatly building my own radious arms, it is just a matter of using the turnbuckles or not? really the reason I wanted to do that was to save money, which really is a lame excuse, so probably what I will do is save a little more and buy some actual joint's to put on them. I didn't think about all the different types of stress when I originally desighned them, and I didn't think about the fact that the factory rating was only for one type. thanks for all the advice and encouragement!!

p.s. everything i build will be tested well before it ever sees the street! and long before it sees Ohio, so no worries!

yeah I'm extending the radious arms and putting in a solid axle. the more i think about it the more i realize i had that idea just to be cheap, but still have ajustablitly on the caster.

I Dont Think Wild Even Describes What Goes On Down Here.... I Mean Hell I'v Built 75% Of Everything For My SAS and Well I Trust It On Road Off Road Even With My 2 year Old Girl In The Truck With Me.. I Would Much Rather Build Something Than Let Someone Else Build It And Buy It From Them... No Fun Monkeys Can Bolt On Parts
