Decreasing the turning radious?

Has anyone tried to make the rangers turning radious better? I had a 98 explorer and traded up for my ranger and I could be wrong but I swear the steering in the explorer was MUCH better.

Don't hold me to this but, I think the wheel angles for both are the same. That is assuming they both had the same suspension; i.e. from a first gen Explorer to an up to '97 Ranger, or second gen up Explorer with '98 newer Ranger.

The main factors contributing to the turn radius is the wheel angle and wheelbase. So depending on the configuration of your Ranger, the radius will be fairly close or a couple feet larger.

I'm looking into to it with my truck; but for now, only on paper.

Do you think it would work if we replaced the steering rod (From the pump) with a slightly larger one? thinking maybe a half inch on each side?

Not sure what you mean by steering rod?

Do you mean extending the tie rod ends from the rack?

If so its not possible, it would be extremely toe'd out and scrub your tires off in a hurry.

Sorry yes the tie rod ends, would it be possible to build a bracket to extend the distance between the knuckle and the ball joint?

I suppose you could, but then you'll probably be killing the cv joints with the increased wheel angle.
