Automatic
I was wondering if anyone had a PDF or some sort of copy for the removal. Drive and Reverse went out, 1st and 2nd gear work though. Would appreciate tips or tricks if not. Thanks!

One-way clutches(sprags) have failed, needs full rebuild to replace

Google: ford ranger automatic transmission removal

Pretty much the same in all years 1983 thru 2011
Several videos to watch

Installing an automatic requires you to SEAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER, failure to do this correctly will RUIN the replacement transmission, for sure

Could it just be replaced, the OD sprag? I thought about replacing the OD center shaft/ set which includes the OD sprag from what ive seen

Yes, you replace the sprags, OD Drum, along with clutches and bands(soft parts) and the pump(motorcraft only for pump)

Its just step by step rebuild

Google: Rebuild 5R55E

5R44E, 4R55E, and 4R44E are all the same transmissions, 55E uses larger OD Drum I believe
Add a Shift kit

Hi, Can you elaborate on "SEAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER"?
I am planning on remove/rebuild/install a 5R55E and never seen this before.

Welcome to TRS :)

Google: How to seat a torque converter

Watch the 2 min video
All automatics use the same method for "seating a torque converter", so not a Ford thing

Besides transferring engine RPMs to the transmission's input shaft, the outer case of the torque converter also spins the transmission's pump to maintain fluid pressure inside the transmission, and no pressure = "no go"

The pump is not "delicate" but if torque converter is not seated properly then when you tighten the bolts holding bell housing to engine the force will break the pump and "no go"
I did this WRONG on my first automatic install 40+ years ago, fresh rebuild, and you don't know that you did it WRONG until its all back together and "no go", lol
