I would really like to put a 302 in my 89' (I race motorcycles, a 2.3 doesnt have enough power for me), but i don't think it's possible on my current budget. Between high school and football practice i cant work many hours at my minimum wage job. how much does it usually cost to do the swap with the cheapest stuff i can find? I have the means to get the engine in, I just don't know all of what i would need to get and the pricing.

Your looking at around 2k. Could be more or less.

It's all in what you pay for parts, and whether or not you buy new vs. used.

I am estimating that I will have about $1600 into my swap, and that includes the motor, trans, t-case, rear driveline, exhaust, and everything to make it run. I am doing all of the work myself except the driveline and exhaust. Keep in mind that my running motor, trans and t-case cost me a total of $150.

holly smokes.... where does the rest go then (maybe a stupid question)

did it for just under 300 bucks and 250 of that was on tranny i did have all the parts i needed in the back yard just had to scrounge them up. :headbang:

i did my 2wd ranger swp for just the cost of part which was 300 for motor and trans and some junkyard visits.cost me around 500 total.then the performance bug got me and aftermarket part started making my total go up

You've already got too many irons in the fire to take on a swap. Keep what you've got and save your money.

$400 radiator
$100 clutch
$60 oil filter relocator kit
$300 rear driveline
$200 exhaust
$50 fuel pump
$2-400 worth of misc stuff, motor mounts, gaskets, etc

I forgot to ask earlier when you do the swap do you need a different driveshaft?
