will a 2.8 carburated intake fit a 2.9 long block. i have a truck that i need to move out of a buddies back yard that needs a motor. i have access to a freshly rebuilt 2.9 with no electronics. my truck is an 84 ranger 4+4 with a 2.8 and a 5 speed. im trying to go cheap to get it running. any sugesstions would help. thxxxxxxxxxx

Nope, the valve port spacing is different and the cams spin in different directions so you can't even swap heads to make it work.

now that i know that wont work

what is invollved in puting a 2.9 in a carburated chassis? engine harness , bell housing mateing , ect ect? thx for the reply

The tranny will work (I actually have a tranny out of a '86 2.9 truck in mine right now) You will need all the wiring, computer and fuel system out of a 2.9 truck.
