Pickup might be done for

the 4.8 was phased out by 14 but had vvt ... a 14 4.8 is not common but for sure possible. so maybe. definitely have to check

you could do a white crown vic or grand marquis, add black wrap in a police mock set up and put bikini police on the normal areas.

at least then, people would get out of your way on the highway

Would that be far enough to be considered "impersonating an officer"?

beach police impersonation.

i need to measure that bikini bottom to make sure the width is enough to cover everything. please step into this tent, ha ha ha

I decided I’m going grow up and just fix the pickup myself. Can’t justify paying somebody to do it when I bought it for 5.5k. And too much sentimental value to get rid of it. I figure if I work on it during the weekends she’ll be done by November at the latest. Giving myself plenty of time to make sure I do it right.

Ended up buying a 2001 Bonneville SSEI. Haven’t been able to find anywhere to fix the pickup. Might just have to get it home and work on it next summer.

Finally got everything ordered. Intending to fix this my spring break from college. Helping to get the engine out and back in in a day. I figure I’ll do everything I can besides take it out this weekend. Not supposed to have non running vehicles at my apartment and I think removing the engine counts as that.

Good luck and hope it works out for you. Lots of appartment places have rules against working on vehicles in the parking lot from what I understand. Generall those rules were put into place to prevent people from having long term projects junking up the place, but they got overzelous as people flaunted the rules. That's why I never even considered renting or an apartment when moving out of my parent's house. I know with college, buying isn't necessarily an option. Hope it works out and you don't get harassed too much, maybe even finda new car buddy or two to help speed up the process.

Or a 98-11 Crown vic/marquis/town car. Plus they have mod potential.

Now you're talking. I've thought a bunch about getting a cheap retired CV and building a performance Marauder "clone". It'll never happen, but I really do like the idea.

Some guys have V10 swapped them.

I’ve done some work on the Bonneville or my roommates vehicles and nobody’s ever said anything so I’m hoping I’ll be free if I get it done in a day in the weekend. Hate living in an apartment, but it’s a lot cheaper than renting a house and the guys living here already had all the furniture bought so very minimal investment from me. I’ve thought about driving it to one of my buddy’s that rents a house, but driving it makes me nervous. I don’t really want to engine swap it if anything goes.

How would I go about making sure I have the right sized bolts to bolt my load leveler to the engine? I can’t find anything talking about that. I’m planning in checking my Hanes manual whenever I get home.

We usually just use the removed exhaust manifold hardware.

Started stripping the engine last night to pull it. Only engine I’ve ever pulled was on an ‘84 fiero so if anybody has any advice, I’m all ears

Put something under the front of the transmission to hold it in place before you pull the engine. The only thing holding it up, other than the engine, is the mounts toward the back of the transmission.

Other than that, take your time pulling the engine and check to make sure you didn't miss anything connected to the engine. Invariably, something will get missed and you don't want to test the tensile strength of the hose or wire harness that got missed.

Also, don't get rid of the old engine until you get the new one in in case there is something you need off the old one in order to make the new one work.

I'm keeping the same engine, just replacing the timing chain guides. This pickup's been in the family since new so I'd rather keep it then go for an unproven engine from a junkyard.
