This might be a bad move ford...

I guess it really all boils down to your personal needs. I have three vehicles. A 07 tacoma for my wife. I drive my 5.0 ranger daily for work and hunting. My 06 z71 sits and is a weekend truck and for pulling a camper. I have never liked small cars anyways.

Ford's announcement was really a surprise. I find it hard to believe there is no market for sedans. There are plenty of new small SUVs and sedans. I watched a commercial for a new Jaguar. It looked like a KIA. If you want a new Ford sedan, buy anything and slap a Ford badge on it. Nobody but you will know the truth! In my younger days I would buy a new car every few years. Today when I look at prices there is no way I would buy new. I'm not the typical consumer. 5 years ago we bought a 2005 Grand Caravan that is used in my wife's business. 4 years ago I sold my 2000 Ranger extended cab pickup to make room for an 89 B2, my daily driver. I have a 95 Miata with just over 100K that I bought myself in 2003. The last car in the fleet in a restored 1929 Model A Tudor. BTW, my wife doesn't drive!

Out of the US where gas prices are crazy high, small sedans and hatchbacks are very popular, more than suvs. I guess they are throwing the towel competing against Korea and Japan on the small vehicle segment.

I guess we'll have to see if it really pans out. I thought the taurus and fusion sold well for them. Seems to be tons of them running around.

They could be 2011's too, not like they really changed much.

No idea why they ain't selling... :icon_confused:

I thought the fusion got redone in 14?

Fords always done well with old designs though, hell look at the ranger, econoline, vic, etc. Of course, alot of those went to fleets though.

The fusion yeah, the Taurus is way overdue and the Fusion is about due for a remake.

The general population doesn't generally really want a brand new old vehicle. Fleets want cheap so the old design that has been polished for decades works for them.

Many trucks and SUVs today are getting better MPG than a lot of the cars we had back during the last fuel crisis (2007-08). A new aluminum F150 gets mid 20s on the highway, while my little '01 Honda Accord gets 27-29.

My 08 Focus got 33 in Seattle traffic and 41 on the drive to crescent city California. My V6 minivan only gets 17/22.

My last crossover was a 2016 Patriot with a rather under powered 2.0l got a best of 27.... had less luggage room than my Focus and a worthless 1000 pound towing capacity. I’m afraid the Focus crossover will be something similar to the Patriot

The Fusion was completely redesigned in 2013. There are a lot of this version on the road but due for a change. They had a lot of problems with the Fusion and I think Ford had too many recalls and warranty work on them. Maybe Ford decided to make vehicles that they build better.

I am disappointed Ford is basically getting out off the car market.

Best fuel mileage i ever seen was out of my sisters 88.5 Escort Pony.

Shortly after i moved to michigan i got home sick and borrowed her escort for the ride back home for a bit, figured itd do a bit better on fuel then rusty #1 (2.9 powered 1st gen

Holy hell did it ever.

42mpg cruseing I75@65-70mph.

Mind you this car was unacceptable by modern standards. It had no air, no power steering, manual brakes, 4sp manual, and a TBI 1.9 that mita been able to outpower a weedwacker, maybe.

Meh. There seem to be a lot of Ford sedans on the road but a lot more crossovers and small SUVs. I get what they're saying - sell what sells, not what doesn't.

This decision was probably made for the same reasons that nobody makes a station wagon anymore.

The last gen of Crown Vics were either turds or snappy depending on if you got a police interceptor or not. I had a 2000 CVPI for a while. Pretty easy to melt the back tires off and it hauled ass - not the fastest car in the world, but it was quick especially for its size and it handled pretty well. I got rid of it because I expected decent gas mileage but got maybe 14 or so at best.

I would love to find a Marauder. They are so cool looking... but I doubt I'll ever own one... just doesn't fit my lifestyle.

You would not like owning a crown vic as a personal car? Would like to hear about that.

I worked at a Ford dealership over 15 years ago for a couple of years, and many came in for service. My favorite style is 99-00 body. The 4.6 is a little weak for a car that size. I assisted in moving cars for their tent sales for extra cash. I drove a few of those. They were fun, and they got going on the hwy.

Have always considered getting a 2000 and newer crown vic. For a cruiser, and road trips.

IMO they would be cheap, comfy and if you get the right color a few years ago the waters would part so to speak and everybody would behave around you thinking you might be a cop.

But since hardly anyone is still running them the last part would kind of go away...

Funny story we were in Boy Scouts dad was driving our family white '94 Explorer. Sheriff's department had one just like it but with stickers on the side. Coming home from something someone went to fly by us, they got about even with the ol' Exploder and must have seen dad's tan Boy Scout leader uniform with the US flag patch, they slammed on the brakes and followed from a distance until we turned off. :icon_rofl:

Well we know fuel prices are going to go up. I've been seeing it on the web all day. I got me a 2013 Taurus SHO for performance, luxury and size and absolutely love it. Twin turbo, all wheel drive, 400+ HP tuned. And 20+MPG if I'm not stupid with it.

No problem blowing off Chargers, Challengers, Camaros, Mustangs as long as they're not Supercharged or Hell Cats lol.

Ford will change their minds when people can't afford to drive the behemoths that are selling now.
