This bed a goner?

Hey I have some pretty bad body damage on the bed and figure I am going to have to just replace it since I don't see how I could pull these dents out lol. Posting here to see if anyone has a different idea or if replacing the bed is the only way.

A good metal worker can straighten almost anything steel. The bed side could be replaced for a speedier repair. The question is, is it worth it.

The number of labor hours put into repairing that bed would likely exceed the cost of replacing it and painting to match. The bed isn't exactly a numbers matching piece and regardless of method used paint work will be required. If you are patient, lucky, and willing to travel, you might even find one already the right color and similar paint fade (maybe the one beside it?), then just need to source the decals.

But itll cost more then a new bed.

Plus a red bed pry wont be hard to find.

first pull the bed liner and check for rust.

I'm in the rust belt, before contemplating any significant repairs we check for rust first.
being in Washington you should have it much easier.

does the tailgate still close? if that vertical support is good then the outer fender should be able to fit. sort of

Replacing will be the cheapest way, especially if you can find another red one.

But if the tailgate still works, I'd be in no hurry to fix it, wait until you can find matching one.

That's a very tough spot to repair. Several layers of metal come together in that spot and there's not a lot of access behind the bed side. A hydraulic body repair jack would be the ticket for a lot of it... but you'll have a ton of filler into making it look straight.

If it was mine and I had a lot of free time I'd probably try & fix it.

Good excuse to convert to the fiberglass prerunner style though!

Very much just considering this. Could be worse, but def could be better. What's not seen is the whole side is kind of messed up.

a red straight side bed is tough to find in south texas. all day long you can find a red step side one though so hopefully its not the same where you live, unless you want to have a cool stepside like lefty and i?

I mean if I can't find a straight bed I'll probably do it. I've owned a step side bed ranger before. Is there any actual advantage to them?
