Hey, my 2.9 bit the dust, and I'm really considering 2.3 swapping. The only problem I'm seeing is trying to figure out what I need and then trying to source them.

I think I need 2.3 4x4 engine mounts and brackets. Does anyone have a source for them? Or can I make some other mounts work?

For transmission/bellhousing, I was going to try to source one of the C4 Pinto bellhousings. I already c5 swapped my truck.

Also, I wanted to know if I could use my 2.9 ac compressor on the 2.3 with a certain bracket or by modifying one. I already have my current AC system working and would like to reuse the brand new compressor I just bought.

Thanks so much for all the time and help!

I've forgotten so much... yes, I think you need the 2.3 mounts and will need corresponding trans... if you do 2.3 turbo, possible, parts now scarce for Lima engine. Tried pre covid was tough, now forged pistons hens teeth. You cannot boost stock lima, pistons shatter. Best finding superchicken engine complete.

@Snoranger will know more.

Hmmm... I thought you just posted a 4cyl transmission and or a 2.3l 4x4 complete truck for sale.

Maybe it wasn't you...

Im getting old ya know.

I do have one up for grabs, it's a project I never got to. It was intended to be my Turbo build truck, but life got in the way.

I'm sure you could make whatever mounts work, the front end changed a bunch of times over the years but there's only a couple Ford AC pumps as far as I know... it all depends on where you source your donor engine what you can make work and how "stock" you want it to be...

A N/A 2.3 would probably do fine but the early injected ones were only like 80hp and even by the end of the 2.3L displacement in '97 were only like 105hp where a 2.9L was like 120hp or something. Supposedly the stock cast 2.3L pistons can handle like 5psi as long as you make sure it doesn't ping at all...

Do some checking before you buy a C4 bellhousing, if I remember right the C5 bell is deeper.
I'd consider a 4.0 ohv swap long before a 2.3 unless your area is a lot less hilly than mine.

While ago a guy on here put a 2.3 in a BII, IIRC I don't think it stayed that way.
