No, at 59 years old, I'm talking about a TRUCK! Drove an '09 SuperDuty today... Woah! :icon_hornsup: Talk me out of it, please!

6.4Ls that blow a rad every 25k good enough for ya? Oh, and 13mpg, 15 with a tuner.

Aside from that, I'd kill to DD my old mans 08' King Ranch F350, crewcab short bed. Oh, and it out turn's my ranger.....

5.4L Gasoline actually - they want almost $7K more for the Diesel??? The truck looks just like my Ranger's Big Brother - White FX-4 Crew Cab, 6.75' bed, 6 speed automatic, 4.10LS, Camper Package... and they'll give me $20K for my Ranger!!! Hmmm...

Slide in camper... stay on the beach overnight instead of driving home every night... wife even likes the idea!

I honestly can not talk you out of that. I drove an 09 SD On friday and couldnt help but fall in love with the damn thing. But it was a 6.4 TD with tuner, 5" dual exhaust, and a plow.

Is the 5.4 really enough engine to push the truck around with a load though? or are you planning on supercharging it to? I find a 5.4 sluggish in a loaded down F150 let alone a Superduty.

It felt pretty good to me but it was empty, too! One of the guys at work said they were seriously underpowered... I'll have to see what the slide-ins weigh, I guess.

The 5.4 should be fine, it doesn't sound like you going to be using it as a commercial truck towing 25,000 lbs. And if you want a little more power out of it a SCT or Diablo Sport tuner really wakes up the gas trucks too.

No, there don't get it. did that sway you? lol

I have heard very few things good about the new trucks (engines wise) Like so far 5.4L = underpowered, 6.4L TD = 13 mpg's and exploding radiators. I still love my 92 7.3L IDI non turbo with 18 mpgs although it could have a 5 speed. I have driven some newer diesels and they are pretty sweet (Especially with the 5 or 6 speeds) and gassers are cool but, "If you go big go diesel", you won't regret it unless you only use it for grocery trips (well if you went to costco or something? maybe.).

One more thing... Big trucks are a PITA to park!

By big truck... you mean...

This?

I have not had any problems parking a full size anywhere, except perhaps a 2004 Ford F450 long box, dual wheel, crew cab.
Turning Radius sucked.
But, Then again I take the tractor in the above photo and park it in regular vehicle spots at the local resturants.

Anyways, Depending on your use, and assuming fairly light duty, a 5.4L should do you okay. But If your going to have a camper in the box on a regular basis I would go Diesel, just wait for someone to make an aftermarket rad that doesnt self destruct.

ford super duty

I have an 08 f-250 crew cab 4x4 with a 5.4, runs great i pull a 28ft travel trailer with it and have no power problems. I get 10-12 in town and 16mpg highway when not towing, deff worth buying

The diesel option is just too much extra cash ($7000) for me... pushes it out of my budget. I spoke to the guy that lifted my Ranger today - he has an '07 Super Duty with the V10 and loves it. He also has a friend who hauls a slide in camper with his '08 5.4 L - he added a SuperCHIP tune and said that the 5.4L woke right up! He trudges the camper through beach sand every weekend and has no problems with it.

I stopped at the Ford Dealer's tonight - they are doing a search tomorrow to see if they can find the combo I'm looking for. If both prices say what I want them to say, this may be a done deal. I am staying rational though - slow and easy... lot of time and effort went into that Ranger!!!
