hello everybody!
me and a buddy of mine are planning on an offroad build! we have a 95 ranger ext cab stx with a 4.0 engine. since we plan on converting it into a nice offroad rig we thought about putting some stacks on it! we want stack comming out of the hood to make it loud and nice looking! does anybody have experience with how to build such an exhaustsystem?

custom headers with 3 pipes on each side swept up instead of down could come up a few inches above hood height, so you could still see out, lol.
Watch out for water.
And you could start a fire with low hanging dry tree branches

Or same thing but with a collector and single pipe on each side come out of the upper rear fender next to the windshield pillar, so as not to impede vision.

If you are using fuel injection you do need a couple of O2 sensors some where

Thanks for that advice! where would you place the CO2 censors? the pipes are not gonna be very long. just wanna collect some information before i start

Not really, tree branches have a long history of bending stacks on tractors. I have never heard of an exhaust stack starting a fire.

No, I meant the short pipes coming out at just above hood height, so a 2ft exhaust pipe.
Ever seen dragsters with short pipes run at night , but very cool looking

yes, stacks are hot but not start a fire hot.


You want the O2 sensor about 1 to 2 ft away from head and mounted so moisture won't collect on it when engine is off.
Also heated O2 sensors would be best.
And if you run 3 separate pipes without a collector then put one on each center pipe, if you have a collector then put it there so it is sampling all 3 cylinders on that bank.

So was I, a 2-3" pipe stuck in the exhaust manifold and going through the hood is all two of my tractors have from the factory.

During a long hard pull on a cold night you might get a 1-2" cone of blue fire, it has to be just the right conditions and you can barely see it with the lights on. You would be hard pressed to put that kind of constant load on a pickup.

They pop a little fire during engine braking but it isn't sustained at all, they also carburated too so the fuel delivery isn't the most precise thing out there either.

I have seen quite a few demo cars with stacks, they seem to be fairly close in fire to my tractors.

flip the manifolds....likely have to customize the fead..but an alternator and maybe ps pump is all ya need i guess. cross the pipes in front and have these out the hood.
