3.0 L V6 Stacks

TRS wasnt the place to come for advice on stacks............

Stacks look dumb on all trucks except tractors and semis where they are required.

One single stack I can live with on a diesel pickup if its gloss/matte black (no chrome).

And never on a RBV with a gas motor. *Maybe* if it had a diesel swapped in but even then I am still weary.

Stacks belong on air sucking, diesel buring, torque monsters that actually get work done, not a gas DD.

I have never been a huge fan of stacks, they are ok on Diesels but not on a Gas powered vehicle. There is a bone stock Chevy Silvarado that I see (O ya I think its a stepside to boot) that has 2 HUGE Stacks on it, it sounds crappy and looks tacky. And the other day I saw a mid 90s Toyota Tacoma with a stack that I swear was 12 inches! I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard when he went by.

Honostly, If it was me I would NOT do it, that is unless you decide to do a 4BT cummins swap or something :D

Marginal even on a diesel pickup, looks like shit on small trucks. JMHO.
But if you want to look silly, who am I to stop you?

You need Cats and a little bit of backpressure because the O2 sensors need to have the exhaust at a certain temp to work correctly and the cam is ground with backpressure from a stock exhaust system in mind. I hate stacks (Diesels even more), but if you are going to do this, you need to make sure you have *some* backpresssure (less than stock is ok) and cats after the O2 sensors. Otherwise it just won't run right.

Whos to say stacks look bad on a ranger?

To each their own right? lol not my truck btw. :D

It needs the flapper on top::D

Aight so I think I got the hang of properly posting pics:
Simply that flexing pipe from advanceauto connected to a "fence post" stack coming through a hole in the bed complete with custom flapper. All sitting on my buddies 4cylinder ranger. I'm not to fond of it, but hey, its unique lol.

We have beer, self tapping screws and a bunch of pipe... What will we do today?:)

I'm glad that pipe is flanged at the top.

Stacks can look good on a pick up....with the right mods!

Check out this F250, its got the right mods to be able to run stacks (Yes, the red one was an F250):
