Soul crushed and seeking advice on starting problems

Well it's been almost exactly another month. I found some time off with motivation and decent weather..
Tried to reinstall the starter and no dice. It's not meshing correctly.

I think I am going to throw in the towel and that I will be saving up my pennies to take it to a shop and have them take a look at it since I clearly am either the cause of the problem or am failing to identify it. That and the property management seems to now be paying a little bit more attention to the vehicles in their lot and I don't want to get on their bad side by having the truck up on jack stands with the transmission out..
in your case, was this truck always a manual? is the block plate for an auto or a manual?

Yes it was a M5R1 equipped truck from factory. To the best of my knowledge this is still the original transmission.

pilot but the starter works perfectly...little left...or little right...and shit gets out of hand fast. of course...you would have to loosen it up and play with it rotationally to see what you see....which may be nothing.

What would I need to loosen and play with rotationally?

the other thing i have been running into....especially with winter conditions and people using summer in a can....or cosby sauce....starting fluid if you must...is that the ring gear on these junk ass parts actually slips and walks out of position a bit.

I am a bit afraid this might be the cause. The old girl def got a good bit of the summer in a can

to be clear you have tried both auto and manual starters?

i was just talking about this with Jim recently
