Some people piss me off......

I always thought it was interesting that the 5.4L was standard...I mean, that's kind of a small V8 to be pushing a Super Duty plus towed weight. The 6.0 diesel was not bad, although with a high initial cost and some problem areas.

I've always wondered about the V10...anyone had any experience with it?

The 2v V-10 shares the 5.4's habit of ejecting improperly torqued spark plugs, but otherwise they will pretty much match the diesel of same year for power. Only downside is the burn gas like it is going out of style, but considering the increased maintenance costs of a diesel it is about a wash unless you tow alot for the diesels better milage to shine, for a couple trips per year and not being a dd you can't really beat them.

wow look at how much I'm saving the everirment by not scrapping any of my 35yo cars, that should afford me the right to go out and put my foot through the floorboards when I want to wast fuel as long as I'm not endangering anybody. and If I want to put my wife and kid( witch I have neither of) in a full size suv and waste gas going point a to point b that my problem b/c I'm not going to sacerfice the safety of my family for gas mileage and i'll do what everybody else dose when money is tight, stay home. :flipoff:
and is it bad the most of my day consist of driving around a e350 taxi (Braun XL ambulance) with me and one other person for 95% of 12hrs and 5% of the time transporting a person is this a waste of fuel? cause if so, next time you get hurt climb into your hybrid and drive yourself to the hospital while enjoying the smell of your own farts. (back to the cause of smug is enjoying the smell of your own farts, that explains why these people cant get there head out of there asses!!!)
Please excuse the grammer I'm not that smart, I make people with trucks look bad.

Interesting...I figured that issue wouldn't have carried over. I had a 5.4 F150 come in the shop with that problem and had to get the repair kit from Ford. From what I've seen it's not only improper torque that makes them spit out, but that there's not enough threads to keep them seated.

It is a combination of both, most of the time it happens after they have been changed at least once.

My sister and bro-in-law have a 2001 (I think) E-450 V-10 motorhome, 26', been from Ohio to SoCal to Alaska to N. Dakota to Florida over the years towing a trailer with a Harley inside, has a crapload of miles for a motorhome plus the Al-Can highway is no cakewalk, never had a problem.

There is another issue to.....

Did you ever think that the lady driving around in a suburban, excursion, whatever, with one kid in it....is thinking of her and her kids safety? Sorry, but I would feel alot safer driving my kids around in a Surburban then in a Prius.

later,
Dustin

My brother has worked at a dealership for about a year and a half, only two trucks have came in with blown out plugs during that time. Both were V-10's, but givin how many of them are in our area, I don't think it is really that common of a thing.

As she cruises at 70 mph through 8" of snow... ever notice SUV's are the most common vehicle in the ditch? People think they are bulletproof when they are in one.

ya so she might be in the ditch, and I have to go out and tow her out but she still will be safe and I that all I really care about.

One comment....We've maybe only been keeping record of the weather for maybe 200 years at the most....how long has this planet been here? Who are we to know what it is doing and what effect we have on it? Natural weather patterns maybe? Global warming is B.S.

Yes, but scientists know EVERYTHING.. Even the cure for cancer, remember!

Not necesarily if they are upside down, I have been by a couple snow covered rollovers that didn't look like it was a fun ride.

+1

SUVs are not always necessarily safer. My friend was heading back from my house at the Cape going about 35 mph and was t-boned by a guy who blew through a stop sign at 40 mph. My friend was driving a Subaru Impreza and came out absolutely fine; the other driver had an Expedition, and ended up rolling a ditch upside down with the windshield smashed in, which almost ended up killing him. He had a kid in the car too...it wasn't even that he was drunk, he just didn't see the stop sign and careened into my friend. My friend walked away with almost no injuries while the other guy and his kid were rushed to the hospital.

SUVs are NOT always safer than your typical midsize car. Volvo for many years had the highest safety ratings of any vehicle, and they solely produced wagons and sedans for many years. SUVs give people the ignorant idea that because its bigger it's safer. It's not always the case.

when ever people say stuff like that to me in my truck, (i get like 15) while they drive those dinky carsd.... i say

"Well it may not get good gas mileage, but atleast i can have a self-esteem while i drive it" that usually shuts them up

as a firefighter I see alot of wrecks... I'll say this, i will never have a hybrid, or a gas car of the same size. At the same time, I will look at an suv for what it is... I have seen more fatalitites from SUV's than hybrids, just because of the mentallity of the drivers, people think that they are invincible. Hybrids crush worse than a super beetle.

i completely agree with the risks of having a soccer mom or a dumb yuppie driving a 4x4 or other large truck or suv. most of us have spent many years drifting in the snow, rain, ice, etc and have learned the limits of or vehicles and how to recover when we slide sideways down the road. for many of us our hobby is extreme driving and we are the exception to the rule because we intentionally go places in search or rough and some times nearly unpassable terrain. a soccer mom or male equivlent is just as unsafe in a 4x4 as they are in a prius just for diffrent reasons.
