Very few jy pullout 302’s could. Probably best not compare mileage too.
yeah, also mpg. right now this thing is probably averaging around 35mpg.
last time I checked a 302 can't accomplish that. A 302 is the easy swap for a ranger. If you want more power thats where everyone seems to go.

I don’t think anything with a 5.0 would tough that.

5.0’s are cheap and technologically more comparable with most Rangers.. pretty old school engines though.
 
Nah mileage i knew it wouldnt be a contest.

94+ roller 302 is 205hp and 275ftlbs outta the box. Another 40 hp or so wouldnt be to hard to coax from it. Along with the tq increase....


Not to mention what a 351 would do, and imagine it would still be eaiser then an EB.

It is a bad ass truck, i just haveta be the devils advocate. Its a cool build and i respect the work. Just differing opinion.

Biggest problem aside from mpg with a pushrod 5.0 is that the newest one has been beat by a soccer mom for 17 years now. And they ain’t getting any younger.

Guys in garages and backyards make new ones everyday with a lil help from jegs and a machine shop.
 
I love the idea of an Ecoboost in a Ranger. I know how fast my Expedition is with a 3.5 in it, I can only imagine a Ranger with a 2.7 or 3.5. It would be a freakin Ecobeast!
 
Nice. Where'd you get that honeycomb grille? Been trying to find one and am struggling.
