I have a 98 ranger that I am swapping a 5.0 from an 98 explorer how do I run a return line? Thanks

See if there is a sending unit that will fit your tank, and work with your dash gauge, that has a return line fitting. I know it's a lot to figure out, but there may be one out there that will work.

gather all your specs (resistance empty+full, thread, fitting size etc) go into napa and ask to see their Spectre sending units parts book, skim through that thing for an hour and you will figure out what you need. (It was the only way I could come up with the right sending unit for my full size Bronco tank sitting underneath my 1948 F1.)

Best way is to use a 99-01 Explorer donor or convert (fuel injectors, engine harness, ECU). They used the “returnless” system like the 98+ Ranger.

That said, there is a return on your truck, it goes from the fuel filter to the tank pump. The pressure regulator is in the tank on the pump assembly. I’m not sure why you couldn’t pull the regulator off the pump assembly and swap the pump on the assembly for an older lower pressure unit, run an older in/out filter and extend the return up to the motor. I was told that wouldn’t work and never tried it, but it seems logical?
