Rear Speaker Fit 1998 Splash 2WD/2D Extended Cab

I specced out Clarion 6833C 6"X8" Custom Fit Multiaxial 3 Way speakers for the rear of my Extended Cab per RangerStation dimensions & Amazon Vehicle Filter...should've fit, but steel speaker frame hit the sides of the odd pear shaped speaker openings.

Any recommendations for speakers that will fit?

BTW...the same Clarions fit in the front and sound great!

I've never worked in a 98 cab, but I've never had a fitment issue with any of the Pioneer 5x7/6x8 I've used. Most (maybe all) of them have been specifically listed as fitting Ford.

Those Clarions would have fit except its steel housing is too big and hits the opening of the speaker hole. Tho frame holes would not have matched I could have drilled my own. Would have been nice to match the Clarions I just put in in the front. Only other way would have been to cut out the offending sheet metal.

I will look into the Pioneers; hopefully their frames are smaller. Think I can find some to eyeball for fit.

OK...dummy me...I was trying to see if those nice Clarion 6"X8" oval speakers were sposed to be screwed into the sheet metal opening of its pear shaped hole. But, NO...my Mechanic/Advisor (son's high school buddy) told me to try to screw speaker into the speaker grill instead of sheet metal and of course they fit just like theyre sposed! Hooking it up soon enough. Thanks again to all the guys who offered accurate advice in spite of my initial operator error!
