ready to install explorer leaves...

Hey guys, got them in. I'm on my blackberry so ill post pics later. I got 0-1 inches of lift...plumcrazy was right on the money. Remember though I removed a 2 inch blck in the process, so I'm guessing with the. Block they would have gave me about 2 inches of lift. While I didn't get any lift, I'm extremely happy, I have NO axle hop anymore, and the ride is a lot softer. I'm pretty sure these will flex better as well.

Alright here are the pics...here is what I started with...a 2 inch block STACKED on top of a 3 inch block. It had HORRIBLE axle wrap, and my springs were inverted (stock ranger springs).

Here you can see the "shackles" ie.... pieces of flat bar with holes...they got replaced with belltech 6400's.

Heres the new set up...explorer 4 leaf pack with a 3 inch block. I double nutted the u bolts just to be safe.

Overall Im quite happy, i have little if no lift, but I managed to get rid of the 2 inch block. There is no more axle wrap, and it drives so much nicer, the ride is quite a bit softer. I think it will flex out quite a bit more as well.

Its not a good idea to jack up under the pumpkin on an axle with pressed in tubes. It can tweak it a little a stress the bearings/fatigue the axle shafts.

its a ranger, there's no weight back there

Sweet deal man. Good to see its an improvement. One of these days I will need to upgrade my truck like you have. I like the red haha. Amigos ftw

I got 3" out of my explorer springs.
You didn't get 3" lift over the stock Ranger springs. Your stock springs were either sagged big time, you added something you are not telling, or you don't know how to read a tape measure.

Pat, I'll take "sagging big time" for $1000....

so you can just swap out the ranger leaves with the explorer ones without any mods? they are the same length? cuz if so thats what i wanna do here soon.

They are a direct bolt in swap. The only modification to the Explorer springs is flipping the centering pin over.

yeah its dead simple, sometimes getting bolts out of the bushings isnt easy though...they like, to rust themselves in there good. Make sure to soak those centre pins in penetrating fluid for a couple days as well.

Its a SuperCab 4x4 though. There is a decent amount of weight back there.

when i first bought my truck....i could get at least one wheel off the ground picking it up myself.

but that was almost 20 years ago....i have a hard time picking up a can of dr pepper these days:icon_rofl:

hey guys, so its been a couple days, and the leaves have settled. While im pleased with the ride, and lack of axle wrap now, I want a bit more height. The rear end just sits a little below level, and if anything i want it above. Im going to take out the leaves again, and weave two of the ranger leaves into the explorer pack. Ill post new pics in saturday.

Nathan

if you can get some smaller dodge or b2 leaves you will be better off.

those with shims between build height good but dont kill the ride:icon_thumby:
