Ranger heavy duty towing

Hey there,

I've got a 2002 Ranger XLT 4.0 Automatic. I do a lot of heavy towing around my farm, and OCCASIONALLY on back roads. Can anybody give me any advice on finding a class IV hitch that fits on the ranger? Ideally I'd like it to have a rating of 6,000 lbs before weight distribution. I've only been able to find Class IIIs rated for 4,000 lbs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Hidden Hitch Round tube Class IV that I think is rated at 5,000 lbs. I looked on their website and it is no longer available and they don't have any hitch for the 2002 Ranger listed. I find it hard to believe no one makes a Class IV receiver for the older Rangers anymore but that may be what has happened. You may have to start looking in junk yards or elsewhere for a used one.
 
I got a Reese that's rated that high for a '97.
 
Thanks for the replies. I've been scouring the junkyards lately but no luck. I may end up going with a 4000 lbs hitch and just weld some reinforcements.
