Hello,

I am recently registered to the website but I have been reading the forums online for a while as a non registered member. I really enjoy it. I have definitely been able to find answers to a number of questions of have had in the past on the forums.

Currently I have a 2006 Ford Ranger that received some heavy read damage recently but, thankfully, the frame is okay. I am fortunate enough that my brother has a 2004 flareside bed that he was able to get cheap and he said I could have it.

My question is, is it possible to swap the bed of a 2006 Ford Ranger with a 2004 flareside bed? I am sure that someone may have attempted this befoe but I cant find anything about it online.
Thank you.

This info is addressed in several locations in this forum. I'd recommend using the search function in the top right.

You will need the fuel filler neck for the gas tank off the Stepside bed truck primarily IIRC.

Dasfinc,

That was a quick reply and it is much appreciated. I attempted a search of the forums using the search function and I found several locations where this question was asked but I was just worried because I was unsure how possible it was to change flareside bed from the "old" style of Ranger to the "new" style of ranger since 2006 and the 2004 Rangers had a different style. Thank you.

Stepside bed's are the same as far back as 1993 to my understanding.

First I've heard of there being any difference, infact I thought they dropped the stepside completely back in 2004.

Cosmetic changes for 2004+ were headlights/grills/taillights, not aware of any differences in body panels.

*edit*

I stand corrected:

2006 Ford Ranger: A mild facelift for the '06 Ranger involved modest revisions to bumpers, grille, fenders, and lights.

No mention of changes in the cab/doors/beds.

Yes sir, the flareside beds stopped being produced in 2004. That is why I didnt want to take the bed off the of 2006 truck if the 2004 flareside didnt work; would hate to get all that way and not be able to finish the job. HA HA

Thats good to know that the changes between the two trucks were only cosmetic and the frames are still the same. I appreciate you help on his.

You could certainly make it work one way or another.

they bolt on. the bolt pattern never changed. my friends 94 bed fits my 06. You need the filler neck and the wiring harness, as its different tail lights using a 3 bulb instead of a 2 bulb setup.
