Picked up an 87 Ranger XLT 2WD with a manual trans last night for $500. It cranks, but doesn't start. The truck as a whole is in pretty good shape.

Bought the truck with the idea to be a decent pal around daily that I can learn to weld on, since some rust needs to be repaired.

My current daily is a 99 K2500 with a 454, so gas is not it's friend. I also have a 68 Cougar XR7 that I am working on restoring as well.

Going to spend some time this weekend diagnosing the no start condition. I think it's fuel pump related, so we shall see.

I haven't spent a lot of time working on it lately

Next summer we're tearing it down to chassis to start body repair and rust repair

302ci, manual car, 4 wheel disc brakes, AC car, sunroof car

Thinking we're gonna pull the 302 and put a Barra and a 6466 on it with a TKX mated to it.

If you find its fuel pump related...
These have a dual pump system with a low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump on the frame rail basically under your left foot. Those high pressure pumps have a habit of the spade terminals getting loose. Sometimes tapping on the pump will bring it to working temporarily. Fix is new spade terminals. They are hidden under rubber wire covers.
