My credo
Buy it, build it, and drive it like you stole it
Thinking of buying this today. Jas a blown head gasket and scratches from being farm truck. But 4 wheel drive works great. "Supposedly" Does this model have a locking diff in 4 low? And what's a good price to offer? Think he said it's 98

A limited-slip (not locking) diff was optional. Look at the tag on the diff. If there is an "L" on it then it has limited-slip.

Thanks. I'm gonna go check it out this afternoon after work. I will look

Honestly, with a blown head gasket, I do not think I would offer more than $1000. Because if it has a blown head gasket, what else could be wrong with it?

What would be your intended goal for the truck? Daily driver, backup 2nd truck, off-road only?

You are buying a project that is obviously not worth the sellers time to fix. So your offer should reflect that, AKA dirt cheap. If he wanted a fair value for it he would get out there and fix it before selling it...

Scrap plus any easily salvagable parts (like tires, stereo etc)

Yup say 500 scrap (very high side), looks like good wheels, if its rust free maybe offer a grand and not a penny more in my opinion.

A rust free truck in tennesee might not have the part out value that a rust free truck in the rust belt would. Both the front fender, door and bedside are dented so it while it is rust free at least one side doesn't have straight sheetmetal to resell.

I wouldn't pay any more than $500 for a non runner....particularly with a banged up body.

I'd wheel it.

It's dented on both sides haha. But it does run just overheats. so heads are a must. 4.0 4x4 xlt. Interior is dirty but not ripped. Big question is the 4 wheel drive will not engage. Had same problem on 98 it was a bad connection at transfer case. I offered him 500. Cross your fingers.

What ever scrap price is in your area, that's all I'd offer. With a blown head gasket who knows what all is wrong with it. 4WD works great? How do they know if it has a blown head gasket. So many of these similar sells all over the place. Oh it just has a blown head gasket...AKA they blew the engine but sounds better to just say it has a blown head gasket LOL. The wheels fell off, but its in great condition, only rolled once, etc. LOL.

I wouldn't give them hardly anything. Paid $800 for my 88 Bronco 2...yeah I drove it 30 miles home in 3rd gear, overdrive in the transmission was gone, would shift to overdrive then act like it was in neutral. So transmission rebuilt, then came the smoking engine...so engine was replaced...so my $800 Bronco 2 became a $12k project that's still only worth maybe $1,000 probably only if it had all of its paint LOL. Hell I've seen people selling a full Bronco 2 Emblem set for almost 1/2 of what the dang Bronco 2 is worth maybe my Bronco 2 is worth more in pieces HAHA!!!

The 4WDs bring a good price in the south. Depends on your desire, but $1,000 sounds reasonable, but I’d start lower. Also depends on will you do your own work. Mechanics, even my shade tree, add up quick.

But, hey, it’s Tennessee, I’d buy ten of them if could get a southern belle in Daisy Dukes to help me out, even if it’s just handing me a hammer when I ask for a wrench!
