PlumCrazy's Build

when u built your hybrid tranny did you happen to look at the 2.9l v6 4x4 and if it would have lower gearing or if it has to be from a 2wd and what year ranger would you have to stay in to be compatible with a 93' tranny to do the swap

Any M50D-R1 that wasn't bolted to a 4.0 has the lower gears. 4x4 guts into 4x4 trans is easier because you can swap over the whole output with out sliding all the gears off.

I recommend 95 - 03ish guts since they have updated synchos and shorter shift, watch out for 03 and up 4x4 since they have a VSS and the shafts and tail housing cannot be interchanged with the non VSS because of seal placement. Also some newer trans dont have mounting points for the manual t case shifter.

Older trans my have a second neutral switch on the pass side, it doesn't affect anything if you don't need it, just leave it there to plug the hole.

Bit the bullet a bought a nice tubing bender for 3/8. Ended up bringing home three more bags of tools....damn black Friday pricing.lol

I was able tweak the existing tube on the pump to HB line.

I bent up a new piece entirely for the HB to gear tube.

Looks like it was factory-made/assembled!

Thank you sir.

Not much happened with the truck this weekend. I did swap out my front hub that was chewed up and press in the new studs and repack the bearings. Other than that I just put a few more miles on the clock.lol.

Most of my time has been going to my buddys B2 project.

I picked up my last piece for my 5 speed swap in the 2wd. So that will be happening soon.

Also my steering cylinder should be here today.

Has 3/4" ID ends. Plan is to add grease fittings. I am putting quick disconnects on the hoses and using removable pins on the mounts. I want it removable for a few reasons, A it will allow me to still have fast acting steering on the street, B keep the cyl out of road salt and what not, C save wear and tear on the pins/cylinder eyes.

I did some test fitting last night, it should work. Plan is to build a mount off the diff cover and the rod end will bolt up with the tierod on the knuckle.

Made up my rod end mount last night.

I took a long Grade 8 3/4" bolt a cut the head off, then I trimmed down a groove to 5/8" for a split collar to clamp around it. Then i popped a hole through it for the pin.

I wanted to use a lift arm pin from a tractor, but they only come in 5/8 and 7/8.

The head end of the cylinder will be attached to a mount built off the diff cover via removable 3/4" pin.

That's a good idea.

I plan on running hard line off of the box to bulkheads with the quick disconnects on the frame rail beside the trackbar mount. That way they will be easy ti get to and take the strain off the fittings on the box.

I have been thinking of different ways to go it over the last week, I settled in this one for now. I would really like to find a.one piece stud to use though. Like this but 3/4"

But I have searched for 3 weeks with no luck. I need 2" of pin above the shoulder and 2.5" under with threads. Apparently they do not exist in 3/4"
