egr? your '86 does, your '90 doesnt
Interesting!! amazing how sometimes you just don't notice things like that...just swapped the motor in my '90, and was constantly back and forth between the two using the '86 as a reference. Never saw it...but the '90's back on the road runnin like a champ...
+1 on the cat..if you have to, pull it and cut it open from the top, and sell the platinum inside if it gets clogged. They're kinda hard to find around here...the crackheads are all over the scrap metal stuff. I've had 3 or 4 cats do that, the bag breaks and the chunks of crap fill the outlet. Here in Oregon, we have DEQ (Dept. of Enviro. Qual.) and while they don't check for function, they do look to see if it's there. For some reason they didn't when I first got it, so I did the title transfer, it passed the emissions test without the cat, and I drove it for 2 yrs. Went to re-register...can't do it..no cat. The previous owner made his own custom "collector" so I had to go find one from someone parting out his B2. Haven't got it in yet since the oil pump went out, but thats next on the list... In a similar vein, a company I used to work for had a couple flat bed Ford F350s, for some reason, they took one to the shop and the folks there decided it needed a new pipe. Not sure why, the truck wasn't even a year old, but, they decided to replace the 4" outlet with a 2" pipe...same symptoms..as soon as you try to accelerate, the exhaust can't get out of the pipe fast enough and it bogs. Had a helluvatime keeping that brand new truck going 55 on the freeway. Glad you got it figgered out Syko!
