Thanks to you regulars who answer my questions -often before I ask them.
Thanks to you on this July 4th who served this country.
And especially thanks to Jesus Christ, who died so that I might have eternal life.
I bought my '86 Ranger in 1991 and it has not always been a good ride. But in that time, it has only put me on the side of the road twice. And I can do a lot of fixing for what a new truck cost$. It is a XLT with the extended cab. The doors actually have a fair amount of sound deadening in them and when I slam the door, theres no tin can sound. The 2.9L engine has to be one of the low points in Fords efforts as well as the A4LD transmission behind it. The truck is on its third engine (95K and looks to be strong, finally) and the second transmission is from a donor truck. Truck has 290K miles on it. Original cruise works. Power windows work. Dash only slightly cracked. Carpet full of sand and faded to something less than Canyon Red. Added a high level stop light from a newer model and then covered it up six months later with a solid tool cover, which led to me installing a camera just above the trailer ball. My windshield mirror is now a LCD screen. A few years back I moved the TFI module to the side of the engine compartment; I recommend that modification. The engine has been running full synthetic oil since shortly after the last rebuild and only occasionally do the valves tap. I think that is the answer to the sludge problems that this engine is noted for. So yes, I like my Ranger.
And Java Green is the color of my '66 VW beetle.
