Checking in after joining about 6 weeks ago, trying to bring an '87 XLT back from the dead that's been sitting in my backyard for many years. I've been using this site extensively for info.. I wish there was a similar resource available for the other old car that I drive. I expect I'll be showing up on the 2.9 L forum often in the coming days and weeks with many dumb questions and misadventures.

from what's shown that looks like a good project vehicle.
what is your other car?

Sounds like a good project to have. Welcome!

The other car is a Saturn SL1, which I like, but right now it needs work too. There's a site for Saturns, but it's not like this one, with expert techs on staff and a really impressive knowledge base. The (voluntary) yearly support dues here are totally a bargain, in my view.

welcome!!

that sl1 is a pretty decent car. my wife andi bought one for her aunt so she could take grandma to all her appointments. its never gave them any trouble

Why was it left to sit? If it ran and drove when parked, then clean tank, new fuel and air filter, fresh gas, and a hot battery usually gets the job done.

It quit from rust in the fuel system, but didn't seem to have mechanical issues and did have a new clutch that I put in. New fuel filter and later, rebuilt injectors didn't get it back up. Then spark issues. Long story short, it got put on the back burner much longer than I intended. Going back through everything now it's clear that between me and the buddy I was last working on it with several years ago, mistakes were made. It happens.

I've had two, they're small but not so much as to feel cramped or uncomfortable, lightweight, great on gas, decent handling and easy to work on.

yeah, a decent looking car too.
