I had to take the trans out to put the proper spacer plate in front of the flywheel, so I decided to get some photos and see what the brain pool has to say about my clearance issues.
First, I did a test fit of the transfer case--just in case. That looks good.

Then I put the trans back in and on the mount in the stock location:

Disconnected the trans mount to frame bolts, and put a 5000lb cargo strap on the trans mount and then to the rear bumper. Winched it back as far as I could: I couldn't see that gap in the bright sunlight, but the pic shows I can go a little further.

I need that extra 1/4 inch! As it sits right now, the heater box will work, but that 1/4 inch is going to mean more mods to the heater box.
