Need to quiet down my rig, and other exhaust questions

So I'm loving the 5.0, and the turbo makes it awsome, but the straight pipes are starting to wear on my nerves a bit. It actually runs pretty quiet at low RPM's, but gets pretty over the top when you get into it.

I have a short single coming out of the turbo, with duals the rest of the way back. What are my best options for quieting it down? Will I need something special to keep from interfering with the remote (under cab) turbo? Do I want to move back my Y pipe to make room for a single muffler, or run dual mufflers back near the tips? A nice deep sound goes great with the truck, but for my needs its just got to be quieter.

This is apparently not a common question (quieting down a Ranger), as my search turned up very little. Any and all suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Hmm, apologies, thought my signature was working. This is on a 1994 extende cab 4x4 with a 5.0 out of a 1997 explorer, with a remote mount turbo under the cab (just after the exhaust manifolds come together). Used mainly for mudding and general offroading. But I can't sneak up on a def turtle, and you never know when that might be useful.

dude i would try puttin in some resonators, or like u said, some mufflers
not much else your gonna be able to do

on a side note, when u r off roading, how do u reliably keep dirt/mud/water from gettin past the intake/exhaust seals and into the turbo? that would be my worst fear!!

moroso spiral flow mufflers, cherry bomb glass packs, flowtechs red hots, any one of those are straight through and will quiet it down some. i recommend the spiral flows. they sound awesome and flow great.

I love the Areo Turbine on my truck. It sounds great and it's pretty loud when I get on it and near inaudible when cruising, the turbo should make yours even quieter.

I think the Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow would sound good, especially with that 5.0 L V8. The 50 series have 3 chambers inside the muffler instead of 2 for the 40 series. The 50 series will still sound good when your cruisin', but it will b a little quieter at idle, or when your crawlin.

true but chamber mufflers arent great for turbos. they create more backpressure and cause the turbo to not spool up as quick. its minimal at best but something to consider still.

if you dont care about the little lag it will cause i say go for it. but if you dont wanna lose boost response, i would go with one of the ones i mentioned
