ok people, i'm going to be getting my tattoo worked on in the next few weeks, it's the old ford V8 symbol, it was done by one artist who butchered it severely...

the tattoo is supposed to look like chrome, which the guy did NOT do, he just used grey scale and took a crap on my back, what you can see in the picture is about 3.5 hours of work (about an hour and a half of touchup) it looked even worse to begin with...

ok, so now that you've seen the tattoo, how should it get fixed? i've heard several things from several people, from the guy who's doing my arm saying put browns, and blacks and greens in the bottoms, and blues and maybe purples in the top portion with white in the middle, to give it the reflection, other people saying a light blue on top with starbursts to look like it's gleaming, and a third guy (the one i spoke to yesterday) saying that he just wants to do heavy on black on the bottom and keep it grey scale...

i want to hear from people who actually know about tattooing... not just your opinion, i would like to know what WILL work...

this is the kind of effect i'm going for...

ok, GO!

just cut it out and send it out to have it chrome plated, then stitch that bad boy back in.

Well looking at the examples you posted I see lots of blue and black with red accents and white for the the reflective flairs. Best bet is to go to the shop you plan to have the work done at tell them your plans and what you expect it to look like and get their recomendations. FWIW I think the mic looks the most realistic.

Does it look like the Welcome to Vegas sign? Because that is what I am seeing.

i would take the examples you showed us to your tattoo guy. tell them you want it to look like *this* and see what they say. the mustang one looks good but the first thing that popped out at me was the bars being crooked, it may just be how the skin is stretched though. the mic looks the best as far as realism though.

I'd just replace it with the original PowerStroke logo.

Wow the effect on that locket is really good.

I have this on my shoulder... It doesn't quite look like chrome, but that's what the artist called it. And it took like an hour. 3.5? That's impressive.

Yeah they weren't busy, so he took his sweet ass time and still did a shitty job...

I do plan to take pics in with me of what I want it to look like, but the guy I was talking to was saying because it's so small, which it isn't really THAT small, he wouldnt put color into it, bit wold stick with grey scale, I just want to know if he's on crack or if that would work... I'm leaning towards crack

If you look at the pics that look like chrome it is the ones with the blue and white. As described to me by my tattoo guy has to show shadows of the sky or ground. I went with the blues on mine. came out looking like the picture of the mic. Just my .02

not every tattoo artist is good at all kinds of tattooing. what you're looking for is pretty specialized, so you need to find someone who does that kind of work well, and they'll be able to make it look much better

if you take something like that to a guy that specializes in asian tattoos, you're not going to get very far.

agreed, which is why i wasn't so convinced with the guy who i talked to...

there's a few other shops i'm going to go talk to before i get it done, though it's not really worth the time because it's only really an hour worth of work...

mht, do you have pics of yours?
