My turbo'd 5.0L'd 4/5 dropped 2000 Ranger

Christmas. + a new pre-labled wiring bundle.
Went with RCI 20gal, Aeromotive Phantom 435. Still have the voltage booster if needed, but I don't think it will.

ummduh: Love the build. Want to build another?

I think I will be

I kinda want to take this engine/turbo out and put it in a 4wd winter beater (turned down a bit and run on gas), and start building the next engine for this. I think I could figure out how to run it at 10-12psi on gas and not blow it up....Hmmm...

So give me a price - 2002 4WD Ranger XLT.

I'm definitely not equipped to do this for profit, lol.. this one took me 5 years before I got it on the road (n)

The worst part is the turbo hot side. Ive got probably 1k in those all by themselves. Which is more than I paid for the ranger and the parts explorer that donated everything combined.

Plus all of the hack ass stuff that just doesn't bother me, that I could never sell, lol.

Ok, just on my wish list!

Anybody put any effort into lightning up their dash?

I can't get over how heavy this thing is!

I was starting to fit the new ECU and just happened to see right into the heater core box. Someone was in it at some point and I guess broke every attachment point. They wrapped it in electrical tape to hold it together
Since I already removed the blower/evap box, I figured I may as well rip that thing out too.

Also, the Ford service manual SUCKS. So many errors and incomplete processes, and completely missing steps.

Oh, small ECU update. I sold the ms3x setup I was going to use as it was a PNP style, and I was going to have to fight wiring more than I wanted to.. since some of the wires came out of the eec connector, and tons of them came out the back, and some of the i/o was either not brought out to a pin anywhere or was tied together permanently in a way that was not conducive for my uses (drawbacks of PNP when you get beyond certain things)

I ended up buying a ms3pro Evo + during their tax sale. A little bit overkill but I shouldn't have many further needs beyond what this can do.

Look like you are definitely doing things right. I like it.

I haven't updated this post in a while, but it's cuz I haven't really touched the ranger all summer. My slacking has finally got to me and I got back to work on it a few days ago. It's still really nice weather, this late in the year, I decided I REALLY need to get this out of the garage and at least run through the 1 year old e85 before winter hits again. I also need to get the water out of the cooling system and get antifreeze in it for winter.

Anyways, all I've really done is the ECU swap. It is in, it's running, but the harness was just a work in progress. I put it all together properly and have been plugging along putting everything back together.

Transmission cooler is installed (I got lazy and used the radiator zip strips... I'll fix it when I upgrade the radiator), but the fuel pump and cell has not been installed, nor have I bothered with the cal-tracks yet.

I did find recently that the pinion is leaking pretty good, maybe a pinion bearing going away is the cause of some of my drive line vibration? I want to regear but this axle isn't worth it, it was damaged by the sway bar mount being loose and rotating on the tube(from the original donor vehicle), wore a really ugly deep groove in it. I'd like to go to a 9" as I have a couple different sets of gears for it already in storage, and I just like it more

Oh yeah, my slacking is mostly the result of the wife starting a hobby and it pretty much became my problem. We've been out of town basically every weekend this summer. I'm over it.

Its out of the garage! Little but of work before it's first test block left.

Test drive went well

For some reason I lost speedo and o/d cancel, not sure why as I didn't touch the trans wiring. Looks like project for future me
